Very true.
Oh wait, I forgot ask him how those Ducks are doing for him? - Rinosaur
They’re .500 despite, as Tojo posted, being a top 10 team in goals lost to injury or something like that. I think the Pens were #1 there |

Do you give him 7-8mil for 6-8 years? I'm not making that investment. - madmike71
I think his fair market value is 7M, that's just reliable starter money.
Probably unless someone sold me on a better plan than Jarry/DeSmith. I figure they'd spend at least 4M on a cheaper replacement so I'd rather spend that extra 3M on him and cut elsewhere rather than worry I my reclamation project was going to waste one of the last Sid/Malkin/Letang prime years.
I'm open to suggestions, but last year the only cheaper replacement I'd have taken is Lehner. Even guys like him and Varlarmov got 5M though. |

Nah. He just isn’t that good. A career middle 6 guy that’s always been touted as a top 6 guy. |

I honestly thought Murray was solid last night, but not sure what happened on that OT winner by Nelson. He was skating across the crease to the backhand, and barely got a weak shot off the ice. Murray just had to follow him across the crease and it would have hit his pads, but he just stayed stationed in the middle of the crease.. maybe his skate got caught up or his momentum was thrown the wrong way.
In real time it looked like a pretty goal, but watching the replays I was like my god Murray!! |

I think it’s worth trying for one game, I’m not saying it’s a definite solution, I just think it might be something good to try - Rinosaur
Sure I got no problem with it eventually. I'd probably try with Sid first since RW is open there. Supposedly the original plan was McCann a 3C and Bjugstad with Sid, so maybe both parts end up working. |

But him hit. - jmatchett383
Are you implying that he isn’t physical? That there’s no physicality to his game? Because it looks like you are. He’s got 3 hits these last 3 games. 9 hits in 13 games. He had the sandwich of the game knocking his guy on his back his first or second game as a Pen. Those aren’t opinions, they’re facts |

Long post. Read it, don’t read it. Whatever.
I could see the potential from this line but I agree with Boyd that I like Rust on the right. I think that’s a big strength of his is beating people up the ice or cutting across, getting open on his forehand. If it’s a loose puck battle it doesn’t really matter but for streaking breakouts I think he’s much better on the right. I’d probably rather Bjug on LW
If you would though, if Bjug has been so pedestrian then what’s the motivation to get him on that line over Galchenyuk, Simon, Tanev, or your buddy ZAR (kidding on ZAR 😉 not on the others though). Bjugstad has 1 point and his possession stats haven’t been good. His faceoffs suck too
The line of Blandisi-Simon-Galchenyuk is now Galchenyuk’s second common most ES line combo. Surprise surprise he has 0 points with that combination. Galchenyuk is on pace for 38 points in like 14 minutes a night. Phil is playing almost 18 minutes and is on pace for 46 points. Galchenyuk plays with Blandisi and Simon. Phil plays with Keller, Dvorak, Stepan, Soderberg 🤷🏼♂️
Also, if we trade Galchenyuk for futures then who replaces his 0.46PPG? I think Lafferty’s offense was a flash in the pan; excluding him that puts Galch at 9th for forwards - WSCTeton17
I’m also a big believer that it doesn’t really matter “what side” you line up on too though, unless of course you’ve been playing that side you’re entire career but must forwards coming into the nhl are capable of both nowadays. If you’re playing forward correctly you’re going to be cross crossing on breakouts more often than not anyways (ie. Rusty’s snipe last night was from the left wing) but almost every faceoff has him lineup up on the RW. What side you like up on really only matters for defensive assignments so you know what point to go to off of defensive draws, but generally that changes as well in today’s NHL with the f1, f2, f3 poop and depending on who gets back quicker in the rush. |

Correct me if anything I say here is wrong:
Tojo (and others) has outlined that Phil was on the decline last season in the second half. He has 13 points in 23 games. That’s not a PPG pace at all, it’s 0.565. He was -3 last night and he’s struggling to find chemistry.
Some people are talking about Galchenyuk and how he doesn’t fit. When he’s not scoring he’s still skating hard, he’s backchecking, he’s physical, takes good angles, and as I pointed out before oversupporting his linemates 😂
Sid clearly didn’t want Phil otherwise they would’ve tried it more. Phil was dragging Malkin down. He slowed down last year and he’s looked good a lot this year but he’s not connecting, Galchenyuk has been similar except he’s playing way less minutes and has very rarely been a liability - WSCTeton17
Phil was a drain on possession and didn't fit this style, but his offense made him worth it.
I did think with he and Malkin both getting older and showing signs o decline they needed to get younger, and Rust is obviously doing fine in that spot. (Also, off-ice drama that I don't want to get into).
Galchenyuk has the same possession drain problems though without the offense Phil provided to counter it. I'm into possession, but there is a balance I want to land overall between possession and scoring and Galchenyuk is providing neither. |

I’m not dying on any hill. Just because you haven’t seen something doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened. I’ve been here criticizing Galchenyuk and my predictions. I’m the one who said that he has a history of oversupporting his linemates, which he does! And when he does that it neuters his ability to get open. You called me out on this a few days ago too as if I haven’t admit that I’ve been wrong about him, I have been and have no shame admitting it
I was also wrong about STL, CHI, and NYI. As it stands now I’ve been more accurate on Rust being a top 6 winger this year, on Tanev being a fit, but wrong in my assessment of Petts. I thought he would continue to improve and he really hasn’t
But those ‘garbage’ Ducks have had big injuries, again, and are still .500 and only 3 points back of 3rd in the Pacific. I never said they were cup contenders. I said they’re competitive, a possible bubble team |

It’s not a disagreement. He made a statement that every time I say something it’s wrong. What I was doing was regurgitating information from other sources. How is that wrong? Not sure why you couldn’t read that properly the first time |
