That was a much needed win. But why does this team continually have such major issues getting the puck out of their end and have so many mental lapses leaving players alone in the slot repeatedly? A lot to me seems to be speed getting to the puck and not moving their feet and instead just trying to stick check.
- Buzzo

I’ve seen this. I remember a specific moment during the third period last night. It looks like mental fatigue. The moment the player finally realized he had stopped moving his feet and started up again, it resulted in a 50/50 battle that we won. It is something they can improve on throughout the regular season.

So Frost shooting the puck past the goaltender had nothing to do with Frost?

If that's the case, then Giroux had nothing to do with his 2nd goal because all he did was shoot the puck.

- jmatchett383

Where did I say it had nothing to do with Frost. My exact words were it had little to do with Frost. Giroux was dominant last night because he was dominant. He made 3 of those 4 points happen.

yes...he has also been playing with vets that have been snake bitten to this point. He also seems a little hesitant when entering the o zone, but having players go offsides for the first couple would be goals probably didn't help.

So you think Hayes going offside in his first game scarred him for life?

I said before I hoped frost was one of those players that performed better with better players. Was a little worried based on what the reports said about his play away from the puck. Yes two games is a very small sample size but last game his skill really showed playing with tk and g. In preseason and in both games the kid had a bunch of chances. Glad to see he is putting them in. Confidence boost.

Not surprised he's producing right away playing with guys who can think and execute at his level. Like when he played with better players at the WJC for Canada... he shined even brighter.

Okay, let me rephrase: You are saying that shooting the puck past the goalie and into the net has little to do with producing a point?

Didn't he have a 5 point game and then was subsequently demoted?

Can any of the vets be sent to LV for not a conditioning stint but a confidence stint? I am not aware of how their contracts work.
- biggbear77

You can send anybody down at any time for conditioning, but the player has to agree to it.

IIRC he played the entire tourny on the '3rd-line' and out of position.

Wow...goal and assist from Frost were both eye popping. Getting G on the wing woke him up! Still the team seems so bothered by the constant demonic checking from the Canes, not to mention Isles and Panthers. Moose was great after the slow start, its great to see the both goalies have starts in them that can control a game. It's starting to turn around slowly...still some frustrating things but I see the future, and its promising.

Turns out the reports claiming Frost wasn't NHL ready weren't accurate.

Well Canada's WJC 3rd line is better than Belarus' professional All Star team.

Calgary last 6 games:

0-5-1
Outscored 23-5 (shutout 3 times).

Their plane never got out of St. Louis last night due to mechanical issues, and their practice was cancelled today.

Tomorrow afternoon should be interesting.

Let’s not forget the groin injury in preseason and that he gained experience and made noticeable improvement with the Phantoms. It was always when and not if, based on his talent, that he would be on the Flyers. He is going to be developing for a while. There will be highs (like now) and lows to come. We need to remain patient. It was the right call for him to start in the AHL and it was the right call that he is helping the Flyers now. Fun to watch.

Depends, are the excuse makers and yes men "Calgary was due to win a game" comments prepared?

And I expect the Flyers to win handily tomorrow, Calgary is awful.

Depends on the situation. In this situation it wasnt about the shooter. Without the faceoff, there is no goal. If Giroux doesnt tell Frost where to go on the faceoff, he isnt in a position to get that goal. All Frost had to do was one time that puck. Giroux orchestrated that play. That play is similar to Cheechoo's career. Sit in one spot, wait for pass and shoot. Frost is obviously talented and fits well there but that play he just followed instructions.

And without the shot past the heavily padded man guarding a 4x6 net, there is no goal.

This is rivaling your "Men don't really love their children" comment.

You are acting like Giroux stickhandled through the entire team and make a backhand no-look pass to Frost who had a gaping hole and tapped it in. I won't ague that it wasn't a great win and orchestration by Giroux. But when you say one-timing the puck from just outside the circle has little to do with a goal...no, I do not agree in the slightest.

Well Giroux's first 3 points had little to do with Frost. Didnt see the 4th but assuming that had more to do with Frost

-Goal off a sneaky pass by Konecny
-Assist on Provorovs PP goal
-Assist Shorthanded off a faceoff win

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

So konecny is our best player this season?
I remember during his negotiations thst his usage was a big concern of konecny and his agent.
Another moment of Hak misusing him?
TK seems to have a really strong game going here. He is driving play no matter what line he is on
