Give Keefe a few practices, I think we’ll be fine. I’m not getting too excited after beating a team like the Yotes. But it’s sure nice to see them using each other a lot more and not dumping it in...actual possession of the puck. We look like Team Russia at times 🥳

This

It was great to see that effort last night, but it should be expected after a coach gets fired. And the Yotes looked very flat. Its almost as if they knew after the firing the Leafs would be jacked.

The effort was nice but we will see how long it is maintained. What was really nice to see was some different looks for the lineup. Love Barrie and Reilly together. Also nice to see all 5 players come back to defend around our net.

Plan the parade.

Yeah not super-impressed by that.

It makes it sound like they are taking ZERO responsibility.

It will also look pretty stupid if they fall back into their old lazy, confused, don't give a poop ways.

- Aetherial

watch the video when they gave snakevares the c. reilly and glassthews gave each other some sort of knowing smile 😏

at the time i wanted to believe that they were happy for him but my gut told me that these little poops were telepathically communicating “(frank) this guy . it should be one of us”🤦‍♂️

cliques are never a good thing on a “team”🤦‍♂️

keep an eye on this as it could explain the soft play and no one giving a fcuck when there top players get lit up🤦‍♂️

Yeah, the players not liking him or wanting to play his systems definitely is all on Babcock and they should immediately pretend they did nothing wrong and everything is perfect now.

Yeah, except the person that apparently needs convincing is me.

Oh wait, I had been pretty consistent and clear that Babcock needed to be fired.

The players have a LOT to prove. Thinly veiled derision towards Babcock is not impressive in the slightest. Instead, it is childish and it makes me wonder whether any of the supposed "90%" ever did bother to look in the mirror and wonder if they could be better.

"Hey Mike, what do you think about adding a talented Stanley cup winning defenseman to the roster without giving up anything from the roster itself?"

Pretty much.

I was thinking the last message he said. Only naming Rielly or whatever.

I love how quick people are to forget the flybys, weak stick checks, dumb giveaways, lack of any defensive awareness or structure...

It is like people actually believe that Babcock told the players to do these things.

Good on this team, and the players, if they can turn it around. Their own effort and attention to detail and systems are going to be the biggest difference.

would seem they were fully embracing that yesterday prior to the game...

that's Dubas' issue to manage...

if he chooses to sweep it under the carpet - at least publicly - then how long will it be until some player, disgruntled with ice time or "what they thought was a dirty look from the coach" starts cheating....

that will take time... its full on honeymoon right now.. which is to be expected...

the takeaway for me that pisses me off the most - nothing to do with Babcock - is how they hung the Kaskisuo out to dry... that was pretty "unprofessional"

I think I’ve figured babcock out.

He is a very intelligent person with very detailed structure and assignments.

Unfortunately he thinks he’s teaching Harvard grads. He’s teaching hockey players. I’m sure 90% of these guys got through school on their hockey talent. They couldn’t understand the game and we’re getting away from their natural talent. Babcock made the systems to difficult for these guys to understand.

Probably why he loved hyman too. Only person to graduate university lol

I'm not forgetting. I remember when Crosby and Malkin looked like a bag of Richards until they got Therien fired...and Johnson fired...and in two years or so Sullivan fired. It's the problem with people being people.

My take (fwiw) is that they were too busy thinking about exactly (and I mean *exactly*) what Mike wanted them to do that by the time they'd made the decision it was already too late. They looked like they always had a hamster wheel turning, but also simultaneously terrified to piss off the boss.

You're right though - now they own it, and it's on them. If they blow it this time, there's no heat shield to stop the criticism.
