I watched all the Calder cup games the year they won. He was bottom pair who gave the puck away regularly and couldn't get the puck out or make a play. He was brutal. |

A big chunk of our back to backs are done though. Leafs got through the toughest part of their schedule already.
Why in your mind has Montreal and Florida clinched? Just curious. - RogerRoeper
More points. Less games played.
I hope the Leafs make it and knock the Bruins out, but they're gonna have to keep up a terrific pace from now till the end of the season with only one goalie |

And not as talented.
Leafs are 2 points out. 2 points with 24 games played. |

so just a dominant game for the Leafs
60% corsi and 73% HDCF (17-6)
And not against a poop team.
Looking at the shot maps. huge dark spot in front of the net. Like it used to be
did not expect to see that after just 1 game.

still, needing ~34-18-6 seems to be a tall order... - 21peter
It's tight, but if you're being realistic about it, the Leafs are 3.5 wins off the pace - or 8 points
By that, I mean let's say the Leafs were originally projected to be a 105pt team. They are 3.5 wins off of that pace.
34-18-6 is a .638 winning percentage. A 105pt team is a .640pct. So if they play like they can and should, it's doable.
That said, you're right. It's a thin line. If they play 32-20-6 the rest of the way, which is a .603pct, they would finish with 94pts.
Hopefully yesterday wasn't just an energy boost and they have what it takes under Keefe.

I don't get it. Babcock knows his job is on the line and he still never tried the obvious? And his last post game interview he says they need to stay the course and keep grinding. He's insane. Nothing about how this team is built says grinding is the way to go. Nothing about how they are playing says stay the course. This idiot would have pissed the season away doing the exact same thing until the season ended with no playoffs. - RogerRoeper
I think it just got to the point where Babcock refused to change the style in the event it worked. Then that might seem that Kyle was right after all. No way he was letting Dubas get the upper hand. ...And he knew the ride was over the minute anyway when Lou left for Long Island. So he just continued to drag the boys down. Terrible way to coach. Especially if he hopes to find another team. |

Mikey with another assist, he’ll want $10m next year too - Garnie
Don't worry, Dubas will talk him down to 10.6 on shorter term.

I'm going with same person based on same writing style, some persistence, same lack of acquiescence when discussing a topic, and same excellent vocabulary and grammar.
The thing is that JFJ hadn't had time to tick people off, but it was similar:
State an opinion.
Run into opposing viewpoints.
Simply dismiss opposing viewpoints despite excellent positioning - rather than discuss. Restate opinion.
Day 2, repeat.
It's not like we wouldn't all have loved Pietrangelo on the Leafs, but the acquisition cost and future cap cost would be too prohibitive, but that was never going to sink in. - Monkeypunk
I concur with your observations. |

Maybe they win more with the backup? It's pretty easy to get more wins since they have 0 this year with the backup. If the team is playing better the backup looks better. |

Enqvall looked great. Seriously, just give our 6th and 7th round picks to the guy who's been picking the johnsons, gunnarsons, stralmans. Or just always pick a swede |

C’mon boys let’s beat a good team before we start frothing at the mouth. Nice to see them finally win though, we were due regardless. Let’s let Keefe do his thing ( and go on a run ) before running around all the blogs proclaiming we’re going to win the cup ( talking to you Roger )
