Tanner, "The players don't like him." It amazes me that Jimmy has such inside information. Is he besties with pajama boy?

Uh, yes. Babcock is brutal. It's obvious the players hated him.

Let Babcock go to Seattle and coach a team full of bottom 6 forwards. He'll be in paradise.

Everyone is quick to point out the Leafs have only 1 d-man signed for next year, with no cap room.

Am I the only one that reads these comments and wonders why these posters always fail to consider the $13.5 milllion (estimate) that is freed up when those 6 (Ceci, Muzzin, Barrie, Dermott, Holl and Moroncin) have their contracts expire? It's not like we still have to pay them, even though they are not under contract any more.

No way the Leafs can keep all of them if their demands are what we expect (e.g. Barrie at $8+), but still, have to think something like this might be possible....

** disclaimer....just rough numbers to get an overall picture. Forgive me if the numbers are a little high/low individually **

Muzzin....$6 million ($1.5 million raise)
Dermott...$3 million ($2.37 million raise)
Holl........$1.5 million ($1.325 million raise)
Moroncin.......good riddance!...another $700K saved

You add Sandin......$900K.....and you basically have about $2 million to fill in that last space on the blueline (I do not could Moroncin's salary as someone will need to be a 7th D at a near-$700K rate). We all hope Liljegren is that guy....especially at $863K a year....but still, seems to me like putting a blueline together next year is not as difficult as a lot of people are making it seem.

Is that blueline any good?? If that is the best that Dubas can pull off he most definitely will be next. A player of Nylander's stature for a fair return defenceman

I wonder too what they think will happen with RFA Travis Dermott. Are they going to go the route of the fantasy "Offersheet" for him too? How the hell does he not retyrn?

They have minimum 14 million next summer. They will be fine. And Liljegren and Sandin are ready to play next year and look great.

EVERY year Leaf fans hear they are doomed and it never happens.

Although I will say Muzzin imo will not be signed. Too old and slow to give a big raise to

James, I thought the team with the best Corsi was winning regardless of the score?
