It’s been mentioned quite a few times on here that Botterill never said roster surgery.

No ones ever actually quoted him saying it either. So I’m not sure what you’re getting at exactly. You think that I was under the assumption he said it until today?

And yes I saw Harrington’s tweet, and applied it because yet again Jcrag was saying the exact same thing he posted 85 times in a row.

But go off 3ER. Any other TV characters you want to emulate Captain Originality?

I agree with you on a lot of this

I think it’s ridiculous to have all of 21,28,22 and 17. That alone is not a fire able offense

I think he needed to make a trade and hasn’t yet. By all accounts from Dreger to Jeremy White to Friedman we’re making offers and trying to get something done

I also think he inherited a team where half the players were either drunk or wanted to be traded, and it’s not that easy to find guys who want to be here long term. Hence trading for guys who are from close proximity to their birthplace in Skinner and Montour.

Our 19 year old D man has been quite bad for what was expected so far

We’ve been pretty injured, and so has Rochester all at once and we had an injury in the exact spot we really couldn’t have one in Johansson

It’s 25% of the season and we’re 3 points out of a spot.

I really hope you find peace and step off the ledge sometime soon.
Harrington reported (and since all I do is copy him) that they love Botterill like they love Brandon Beane.

So buckle up. He’s gonna stay here

With the blistering speed at which Botterill operates, you'd be crazy not to buckle up. I'm strapped in my recaro seat and a 10 point harness

Nothing is going to change your mind, but we both know no one is getting fired 3 points out of a playoff spot.

It’s just pointless to even talk about

Funny!

I guess I’m suspicious over all the sudden media chatter about Botts working so hard on a trade. Not a peep was heard about Skinner, or several other trades.

It appears that he wants it to get out there that he’s trying, whether he really is or isn’t. It’s just so dramatically different than the way he previously operated.

He has to be feeling the pressure.

Maybe it's related to the conversation with Pegula.

It's hard to figure out what the Sabres brass is doing. They seem to be trying to emulate the methods of the Bills. "Hungry and Humble in the media." or whatever McDermott says in the Bills locker room.

All I know is that something has to give, and hopefully it's not just a bottom six forward.

Maybe now ppl can at least stfu about how he’s “sitting on his hands”
That’s clearly not happening here

I’m sure the whiners will find something else to b!tch about though

Maybe it’s due to the fact that he 100% has to make a move regardless.

Management and media do work together to achieve their individual goals though.

JB and every other GM should be judged on what they’ve done and accomplished, and not what they wanted or tried to do.

Well I actually think he's been trying for awhile, it doesn't help that half the league is up to the cap, and some teams are working on LTIR to stay under the cap. He probably has a move or 2 he could make right now, but he might not like the return, or thinks it helps us in the long run.

Sure, but I’d rather him make the best move though, maybe those weren’t available at the deadline last year or this past offseason.

The last thing we need is to lose any more trades.

I think JB is absolutely secure for this season and next season as well. So he does not have to make any move. He doesn’t care what fans think or want; which may be for the best.

Next offseason he’ll be forced to do stuff. Aside from that, he doesn’t actually need to do anything.

Good post pegs

I'm sure jbotts has been trying to make a move, but why force something?

His job is not in jeopardy.

JB supporters argue its impossible to rule a verdict on that trade until the career of all the pieces of the trade have been determined.

Botterill isnt totally cornered as he could send jokiharju down. It should be highly unlikely but he cant afford to give away a dman for nothing. No matter his circumstance

Makes me curious to really know whats going on, are all the GMs really squeezing him because of the situation or is it really just a timing and numbers game? If it was a month from the deadline id bet there would be more suitors willing.

I like jb, but he lost the ror trade.

Although he was most likely forced to make the move with the bonus due July 1st

We lost the trade short term, however if Thompson, Johnson, and Miller are contributing players when it counts that will help us win our end of the bargain too.

Well the sky is falling here in Buffalo and we are only 3 points out of a playoff spot.

Teams might want to see what they have and play more then a quarter of the season before making a move ?

The time to make the move in my eyes was June-August but that didn’t happen for who knows why. Maybe Homie can provide some insight on that.

This offseason he has no more excuses though. 90% of the roster is purged. Playoffs or bust for him next year (and I’m in Botts’ corner and always have been)
