Breadman got his man, I was hoping for Sikura, but Highmore will do, please no more seven Dmen.
- Angotti

I would have been happy with Sikura too, just had a preference. Agree with an earlier post of yours, I don't get the "trade Adb nonsense." If we go off of not scoring logic, half of the team would be gone. Adb is working on more facets of his game than goal scoring & it shows.

Guy would cover the ice in 3 strides. He is a pretty interesting guy. He was one of my favorites as a kid. Just loved watching him skate.

EDIT: For being used primarily as a defensive specialist, he averaged ~15 goals/season during a time when scoring 20 was a huge deal.

- Elbows15

Chico always played with B. Hull, it was Mohns, Mikita Wharram on the updated "Scooter line". D. Hull, Martin Pappin was the other combo.

He coached the hockey team for New Trier West for a while in the 70's. When you could buy in Winnetka for $100k.

Meant on the PK. At even strength Maki was definitely attached to Hull.

Without looking it up, wasn't Mikita the first to score 100 points in a season?

the suntimes beat guy Pope posted about a week ago that the hawks had soured on sikura...he did not elaborate...hence highmore is brought up before sikura

not sure for how long..Injury to someone else...

- bogiedoc

I think that was just his opinion, not something he's heard specifically. If the call-up would just act as the 13th forward then I get the move, otherwise....

Also to comment on a premise I have seen on these boards. You are out of your minds if you want the Hawks to sign Lehner to a deal for more than 2 years. His body is going to break down and quick at his size. I wouldn't pay him any more than he is making now, either.

If it were me, I wouldn't sign Tubby at all.

- Elbows15

I could imagine a three year guaranteed contract. This allows enough time for both Laakinen and Gravel in particular to develop. While I do not doubt your health prognosis for large size goaltenders, I think it is a concern but more on a case by case situation. Now you might entice Lehner for sure if you include a non guaranteed years four and five with a team or player buyout of $1 mill exercised after the completion of season three but only in interim between playoffs end and the soon to be Entry Draft. Same applies after year four. So player and team has an escape clause and can make alternate plans a tad before Entry Draft, fee agency and all summer.

Centrally located team with a commitment to youth and hopefully some promising signs: that should be a hard selling point.

Not in the 70s, I think....

I remember some time in the late 50s - I grew up in Winnetka - and at one point, the main talk of our neighborhood was that a house (on a street behind ours) was the first one to sell for over $100,000.

Couldn't have been Esposito. Hull broke his jaw in '68. Espo was in Boston by then.
- Elbows15

yeah it was Esposito
...probably an earlier with Bobby Hull had another injury and I remembered incorrectly but definitely Esposito...

Western Winnetka you could for $100k in the early 70's, East Winnetka I agree not.

I also remember John Ferguson battling Hull with a little extra rough stuff while he had the wired jaw, and Montreal fans booed one of their own for it.

Kane and Dach played together against TB on Thursday and did squat together. You would whining about Dach after 3 games if he has to go against top pairing D-men. He isn't ready.

18 points in 23 games. That is ~70 points. You might want to pick another sport.

- Elbows15

FYI

18/23=.782

82 games by .782=64.17

64.17 is not 70

Of course, Gazza. Both are progressing nicely yet on a slow and steady pace as well like Kurashev.

Entwistle could be NHL ready as early as next season, IMO. Big body who can handle the physical side of the NHL as he's much like Dach being more engaged as the rough stuff ramp up. Tough to beat in 50/50 battles.

Give Entwistle this year to adjust to pro speed and he could prove to be a candidate for 4th line duty replacing Smith next season (also concerned about Caggiula's long term health with his head injuries, second one as a Hawk, IIRC).

Beaudin started off strongly as the best defender on the team with patience, smart plays, and solid positioning but has regressed a bit. Relies way too much on stick checking and needs to learn how to use his body more in areas away from the crease and corners. Not necessarily throwing checks but managing his gaps by using his body to cut off lanes for the puck carrier.

The skill and hockey smarts are there for Beaudin. Just need to get used to the physicality and speed of the pro game. Guessing he'll be NHL ready by 2021-22.

- AEL_Fox

Your continued reports on Rockford player performance only cements my belief heading into the season that both Beaudin and Boqvist will be good but they really do need two seasons or part of next season to work on the things AEL_FOX hadme time n d this and past blogd

Some are excited by whatbBiqbust dhow f in his brief time in achicago. Don"t be misled by that. You can see upside but you and u would have seen how exposed he would become - and once the league catches on to it, it gets worst.

Of course speaking about defensive play for the most part. I do not think Boqvist gets any dents in his confidence in offensive ability as a by product of poor defensive play should he be rushed next season as Gus" replacement. It shall be interesting to watch both players develop

He's a Stan Bowman draft pick, that goes without saying.

What? have you looked at his stats and workload?

Crawford is one slight glancing of the head away from a long term sit....maybe for good given his young kid at home.

Can't give a contract with non guaranteed years. NHL contracts are for a specific number of years with the same AAV per year. If the Hawks want to sign Lehner for 5 years then buy him out after 3 years, the buyout hit is based on the remaining AAV.

Exactly....he easily could walk after this year if the Hawks dont' resign him. He has won championships, has money, and a young family. At some point the risk with his head injuries doesn't outweigh the reward.
