you are crazy...no problem with it...that was assaullt with intent to injure...

I will never forget when Bugsy Watson was all over a wired shut jawed Bobby Hull with his stick and after transition, Phil Esposito ran his head into the top goal net bar with plenty more mustard than this video between Blues-Preds.

He left Bobby alone after that.

I asked Watson about it when he was part of the NHL All-Star employees at the Chicago All-Star game festivities, and he said something to the effect, payback is part of the game.
Dunno if Vicktor A was hounding anyone that should historically lead to giving him the stick except that he was in the crease, eh?

The long knives are now out for DeBrincat - pathetic. He has 18 points in 23 games which is a couple multi-point games off his 76 points in 82 games pace last season. And now he's a bum. The impatient fickleness of some fans is ridiculous.

An aspect that might be in play with DeBrincat's struggle putting the puck in the net with as much proficiency as last season is his new $6M deal. Even though it doesn't kick in until next season he sill got the deal and some players put excess pressure on themselves to perform and it hurts their performance. DeBrincat actually looks better this season with the only exception of goal scoring - he's stronger and faster and is playing more physical, and even though his d-zone play still needs improvement it is better than last season.

He will be fine and score lots of goals for the Hawks. Just let him be.

. Thank you.

Maybe we should rekindle JJ's he can't skate/has a bad attitude nonsense?

Cat and Strome = complete garbage

This season they look like 3rd liners. Zero high end skill. Slow, can’t shoot, and can’t pass.

Schmautz has very similar numbers playing center on the #1 line with Kessel and Keller. He got $5.8mil for 7 years for his half year with the Yotes last year.

I'm disappointed they didn't recall D. Sikura, the kid has been great for Rockford.

His decision to decline a pro contract and go back to school was not a positive sign. I hope to be pleasantly surprised, but I would not count on Mitchell signing with this organization when all is said and done.

Bowman or a predessesor needs to resolve this season"s version of the inefficient DCat and Strome .

We noticed how both players are lacking or not displaying certain skill which were exhibited last season. Off season work outs may be the reason for the change. The fact is indisputable that at their age they should be able to recapture their previous form;; they did not permanently loose their capacity to repeat past skill and subsequently generate more scoring (points).

I believe not only would training method turn them around, but so too the better chemistry in line combination as they should be prudently placed according to past success

Now upcoming is the so called monkeys wrench which could tear assunder the plans to keep certain players on the roster and protected from selection in the expansion draft.

First of all Gus is gone by trade deadline because he has value too great to loose for nothing to the expansion draft.

Next perhaps we cannot trade Seabrook so we loose a significant piece from our roster. If not traded I foresee either Maata/Murphy and Saad available.

And because Strome is basically a one dimensional offensive talent, possibly he might be available.

Either short or long term there needs to be a top center in Chicago; the top center actually now is missing in action. Toews is never going to be top line productive on a regular basis. I do not really want a Strome Dach punch but rather a different center than Strome.

Perhaps the new center is drafted in 2020 Entry Draft, or traded for (a trade likely would be DCat & possibly a prospect other than Boqvist, Mitchell, Beaudin, Entwhistle. A smart move would be also to retain Carlsson).

Of course teams pull back a player after player #1 (first) expansion choice is made

So there could be a gamble wherein Strome is available but first to pull back.

So to visit the Seabrook trade discussion

- jhawk59[big assumption he will waive no movement clause].....do not surrender one of the top prospects aforementioned. Do not be held hostge by too heavy price to move Seabrook. Choose to keep prospects over a roster player. We have prospects to graduate to the NHL even if you might not see the perfect replacement.

I could envision for instance that Carlsson replaces Murphy.

Whatever happens with Strome and others of course is all a guessing game right now But you can be an armchair quarterback (play Bowman as GM) and come up with other scenarios beside what I just painted.

Spitballing: does Slavin have better hands than Saad. Hate to loose any prospects in trades

Boqvist five assists as Icehogs split two road contests in Texas

There is no pulling back a player in the expansion draft. each team only can lose one player in the draft.

Couldn't have been Esposito. Hull broke his jaw in '68. Espo was in Boston by then.

Agreed, plus all snipers can get on a hot streak at anytime, the kid is 21 for Pete’s sake, we need some people to chill out. Strome, DeBrincat, and Kane, leave them alone on one line. Saad, Kampf, and Kubalik, another line to leave alone, and figure out the other two lines. Go Hawks!

Nope. He is in a slump scoring goals so let's just get rid of him.

We will just ignore that he might actually be a better hockey player right now.

Do you recall who Angotti was paired with on the penalty kill back in the day?

Ellbows Nesterenko, or as my father nicknamed him Sonja Heine. Beautiful skater, but he would make all these moves and deke out 2-3 players but was still at the same location on the ice. He was also one of the few players in that era to go to college and get his degree.

Also to comment on a premise I have seen on these boards. You are out of your minds if you want the Hawks to sign Lehner to a deal for more than 2 years. His body is going to break down and quick at his size. I wouldn't pay him any more than he is making now, either.

If it were me, I wouldn't sign Tubby at all.

No I don’t recall, got hit in the head too many times since then, maybe Maki? Nesterenko?

Guy would cover the ice in 3 strides. He is a pretty interesting guy. He was one of my favorites as a kid. Just loved watching him skate.

EDIT: For being used primarily as a defensive specialist, he averaged ~15 goals/season during a time when scoring 20 was a huge deal.

Mostly Nesterenko. It always was worth a chuckle with those two on the ice together. Mutt and Jeff. They were pretty good together, tho.

Think Maki was with Wharrem/Mikita or Mohns from what I vaguely recall.

Massive over pay by the Yotes but they will never know because they don't ever get enough good players.
