It's so bad I made a D2 reference earlier today in this thread, and nobody picked up on it.
Sad. - Atomic Wedgie
Did it have anything to do with Knuckle-puck, Gordon Bombay, The Flying V or Gunnar Stahl? |

It's actually pretty sad considering Hainsey makes 2 million less than Ceci. But alas. |

It's a false equivocation. Ceci replaces Zaitsev, so it's a wash.
Hainsey is making $3.5 million, by the way, so your math is also incorrect. |

I think it's tough, but it was going to be tough for whoever came in, so you have to go with your guy if you're not writing off the year.
That said, while Colaiacovo said on Leafs Lunch that he, nor any player he knew, had ever 'quit on a coach', there's a natural human tendency to just start tuning someone out when you're frustrated with them. Once you've reached that part of the relationship, it's pretty much done. You're not listening even if you think you are, and you've started down the path of disdain which does affect everything - especially once things start to go badly. That's predominant human nature - alpha male athlete or otherwise (I'm not discounting that there are those who will react in the opposite manner - we're wired differently - but once you tune someone out, you're no longer in "I'll show you" mode).
You get a voice change, and maybe an attitude change, and that little bit could hopefully be what they need.
It sure as poop didn't work when Horachuk took over, but these guys are actually decent and should be significantly better than they are. - Monkeypunk
Well I think there is an added element since Keefe is Dubys guy..and the pouncing will be extra loud if there is stumbling along |

Reilly went from playing with Hainsey to playing with Ceci was the point. |

I absolutely agree. At this point, we now enter into that stage though - where we really need to be anyway, so it doesn't matter where the blame lies - that allows us to determine if Dubas' vision can be executed with this roster, or if he has - as many speculate - gone too far down the skill path with not enough additional intangibles.
But really, you'd see to maybe bolster the lineup with some tougher guys who can still contribute - so you probably shed a Johnsson, and maybe upgrade a Moore, and try to add your "Hyman" element on each of the top 3 lines, and you lose a Tyson Barrie and try for someone with more defensive acumen.
For now, the plan needs to be executed by a GM and Coach who share that vision, and can tweak it in year to determine if they are off the rails or not. They'll just have to shut out the noise and execute.
If it falls on its face, and the necessary corrections aren't made - then Shanahan will need to make the necessary adjustments himself. |

It will be interesting to see how Ceci plays under a new coach. Can't get any worse I guess. |

This season is already a write-off for me. A top-10 pick, or playoffs.
Either way, at least look like you freaking care. |

I doubt he can "fix" him. You'd have to train him to think faster and act better.
The better thing really will be to assess the pairings, and ideally move Ceci down to a 5/6 role where he is less pressured, and can process the game at his speed. |
