Rielly has played the past 3 years with Hainsey and Ceci. He had 72 points last season and finished 5th in Norris voting. He's also 25 and making 5 million per. To even think of moving him is crazy - RogerRoeper

The Dubas/Keefe defenders already lining up the excuses: "Have to give them time to put a team together that can win; this season is already lost ('because of Babcock!!') - have to at least give Keefe and Dubas until the end of 2020-2021 season to prove what they can do!! - MaximusAurelius
It's amazing that you have this view, when you are equally as stubborn, but on the other side of the ledger. It's truly mind-boggling in fact. The lack of self-awareness is truly remarkable. |

I was on the Hainsey hate train too but now that he is gone I think it is obvious that pairing worked fine. - Santo_44

Gardiner is now a #5 D making 4 million per. He's playing by far less than ever before
Trading Nylander for a #4 D is a terrible idea. - RogerRoeper
Terrible for you guys, yeah. |

Gardiner, Hainsey, Ceci all guys that would look better playing less minutes.
Jake Gardiner goes to Carolina and now he' a #5 D playing less than his rookie season in Toronto... |

Just save this message...Austin Matthews needs a heart transplant. I doubt he'll see a Stanley Cup in his career.
I'm really not trying to pick on him, troll, etc. etc. I just don't see the right attitude from this player. Something is amiss with this team and I think it's the attitude of one of it's best players. I would trade Matthews right now. (for example, I bet the Oilers would have traded Draisaitl for Matthews straight up last year...but not now, no way). - JLO961
I'm with you part way on this.
He has not shown me any heart and I don't think he wants to be here anyway.
On the other hand, it is tough to tell if the problems are related to Babcock and the malaise of the team as a whole. He is young and still clearly has a lot of growing up to do.
With a talent like that, you just can't give up on him.
I get that you love Draisaitl, but I think a lot of people still credit a lot of his success to playing with the best player in the world.

this is absolutely hilarious...Rielly, who has been paired with a new partner this season, who's playing behind a group of underperforming forwards is having a down year from last year.
so - at the moment - he's not as good in his own zone...
"he is really bad in his own end"
Nylander was absolute shyte for 2/3 of a year last year and you did nothing but try and find excuses to blame his "shyteness" on anyone or anything else.
and now the only d man the Leafs have that is legitimately a top 2 type defender in the league.. and you want to run him out of town.
I think it was Einstein... he said something like "there are two things in the universe that are unlimited... the universe itself - and human stupidity"...
oh boy - BorjeFan4Ever
Me - maybe look at trading Rielly, he is bad in his own end.
this guy ^ - NOw you want to Run him out of town!!!

Rielly's been playing hurt. - RogerRoeper
I hope so.....but I really don't know anymore.
And for the record I think a lot of players play hurt. Muzz has played hurt most of his time here it seems and he seems to be able to play at least close to what he is capable of consistently. |

I think there was division in the room, and Rielly was on Babs side.
Mo obviously still commands the room, but I think we’ll see more of a team leaderships thing happen. They’ll look to Keefe, or whoever Keefe anoints.. - Arctic_AARDVARK
I think you are right. It was reported that Rielly and Tavares were the only two that talked to Babs after that Penguins loss. |

that's more a chemistry thing than anything though. Edmundson looks like poop whenever he's playing with anyone other than Pesce.
.....Want Joel Edmundson? |

If the Leafs had Pesce, Edmundson, Hamilton, Slaavin, TVR then Gardiner would be playing #5 mins too.
Listen. I am happy Babs got fired but lets not go overboard here. |

Maybe they just respected their coach for his authority? Isn't the first time they've had coaching changes so it'll be fine when they win the cup this year. |

I hear it all the time.
The Leafs can't win a cup without winning a cup first and now Keefe can't be a successful NHL coach without being a successful NHL coach first. |

actually, yes... would be a perfect deal for both teams
Edmundson (.5 retained) for Barrie
both are FreeAgents at years end... both could use a fresh start.
nevermind, Edmundson 6'3"... somewhere in Dubas' spreadsheet he's got a toggle set to exclude anyone over 5'10" |

They would naturally talk to the coach.
Nobody else would. |
