Babcock would’ve broken his glasses, PS4, while berating him as a useless millennials that doesn’t know anything.
- RickJames77

I doubt that Babcock was angry - he certainly wouldn't be surprised.

Calling out your own team for not having an identity is a pretty clear indication that something isn't right.

Babcock still gets 3.5 years at what 8Million... not bad.

come on.. its not that complicated.

Shanahan fired Babcock... Dubas didn't - it wasn't Dubas decision to make. That's why Shanahan talked to the media. Pretty clear statement that Shanahan flew out there.

Just a question to those who watch the Mariles regularly... does Keefe have enforcers or tough guys on the roster?

- BorjeFan4Ever

Shanahan said in the presser that he hired Babcock and felt that it was his responsibility to be the one to tell him. It was more of a friendly gesture over anything is how I took it.

Agreed. People on Twitter saying Dubas was too scared to fire Babs. Which is b.s.

You guys are grasping at anything.

It specifically says in the TSN article that the entire management group was on board with the decision, and that Shanahan flew to Phoenix so he and dubas could let Babcock know together.

probably higher.

media saying Keefe will go all run and gun.... we'll see.

seriously, if they do nothing else but address the PK and PP... ignore the rest - even a bit of an improvement could make a notable difference.
Matthews more minutes - not sure the line stays the same

I think if we had an average PP and an average PK, we'd have a winning record. Our special teams hurt us..

I don't Dubas needed Shanahan. I think Shanny said "I'm doing this, not you. I'm on my way now"

Exactly. I hate Leafs Twitter. A lot of ignorance from those millennials.

They brought in all new assistants so you couldn't fire them just yet. I have a feeling though that Babs wouldn't let McFarland run the PP the way he wanted too. Its become way to predictable.

I hope Keefe has a green thumb, because his players need to grow a pair.

I don't know if I believe this completely... I think there's more player input here than we're aware of...

it doesn't take much imagination to see Matthews saying I want to switch sides, I want Rielly up top... etc.

the business with Barrie, not seeing any 1st power play time - I'm not sure that's all on Babcock.

But...Sparks was a really good AHL goalie too. I’m cautiously optimistic, as we all should be.
- Woderwick

Good point. Keefe could end up being just like Sparks and Dubas. Great in the AHL. In way over their heads in the show.

I really am curious to watch the game tomorrow. See if there are any differences at all or Keefe just rolls out similar things to get the grasp of what’s going on....

Or he says eff it and throws all lines into a blender.

- bryant

I'm not expecting a whole lot in the first game; he'll probably want to feel things out first, but the breakout should be more of a quick transition up ice through the neutral zone with the D activated more regularly.

I think point shots will drop off as they should. I think usage will be better, with the best players playing more, hopefully Barrie on PP1 (which will likely be loaded again and playing 1:30 minutes).

PP should have more movement through the slot (remember the Royal Road passes between Nylander and Matthews 3 years ago?).

PK will be way more aggressive, like they were last year when they were successful.

What I like is the respect and familiarity that the players who've played under Keefe will have. While it's not a big deal to most fans, having won the Calder Cup together does mean something; it's still a grind, it's still attrition together.

Well. Now we get to see how much of the problem was coaching and how much was really just a lack of effort.

That's what I mean by grasping. No one is saying dubas did, Shanahan is Kyle's boss and wanted to be there...

If Matthews gets double-shifted. It's a good thing.

Honestly baffled that not only wasn't it a penalty, but that the guy didn't get suspended.

What the (frank) is with that Thanksgiving Pizza from Boston Pizza? That looks like the most revolting thing I’ve ever seen.
- RickJames77

Boston pizza sucks pretty hard with all their food, really.

I did like some chicken sandwich I got there once, though.
