Yeah you're gonna wanna be careful sourcing 'everyone here' as gospel. We are one day removed from a certain someone saying dubas should be fired cause he has no experience.... And Babcock named GM...
Babs played Matthews 18 minutes a night when the games were big, sat him on the bench for the Gauthiers of the team when the net was empty and the game was on the line. I don't think many would have blamed him had he quit.
Take a look at the stat sheets. Matthews has quit on no one. - joel878
Stat sheets. Hilarious. |

Will be interesting to see if Leafs will get a few more power plays now that Babcock is gone, perhaps the leagues refs felt the same way about babs as Mike commodore. He had to go, time to play the top 2 lines much more, I almost threw remote through tv when line 4 went out after Spezza goal. - Ralphb1967
I think the 4th line thing after a goal was the last straw for Shanahan. It happened a few times last night and a lot was talked about it today. Huge momentum killers and there was no reason for it unless you wanted to be fired. I liked Babs but a lot of his decisions were head scratchers and it got to a point were something needed to be done IMO.

Babcock was/is a very good coach when he has a Babcock type roster.
This team in its current configuration was not a match for Babs.
I won’t miss his stubborn decision making. But he was right about Hyman, who I expect to be traded to the Wings so Mike can play Glendenning, Hyman, Applicator.
He’s going back to Detroit, book it.

No, can't be.. Rielly would have circled around the net on that one-on-one looking to pass the puck. |

Everyone needs to start somewhere. League cant just regurgitate the same coaches over and over.

Remember when raptors brought in a rookie coach after perennial 2nd round exits in the nba.
People critiqued nurse too. And now he is making a kawhi-less raptor team look just as good and they’ve all bought in. - bryant
Apples to oranges
That Raps team last year was one of the toughest and best defensive teams in the league, not a fun team to play against
