It's not that the Leafs aren't using their AHL team to develop players.

It's that they are doing the same as every other franking team in the league. Quit telling the world that the Marlies are so franking wonderful. Hell, there's a strong argument that their use of a bloated payroll is to the detriment of the development of young players - you've got 32 year old tweeners who are taking away ice time.

Nylander played on the Marlies. So does Sandin. That's what 1st round picks outside the top 3 do.

It's not proof that Keefe was a hockey genius.

It's really not an enviable position. There was a fair amount of roster turnover, and most of it was necessary. It looks as though there has been some poor choices with the players brought in to insulate the core. There will not be much time to identify which players adjust to Keefe and which need to leave as quickly as they arrived.

I'm not a doom and bloomer, the team still has the potential for excellence. But I think I agree with you, more changes need to happen.
