Is Max still with us? I’m assuming he had a coronary when Keefe was anointed the chief

i guess that's why our bottom 6 only looks better than your guys

- Steven_Stamkos

What's that say about the Leafs ? being 9 points behind the inferior Oilers bottom six.

Mrs. Wedgie just called - she has a business meeting in Philly on December 3rd.

So I went and checked the schedule....

Tempting.

I feel a lot better about this than I expected.

This seems like the natural progression. Hope it works

Heard a great analogy on the Fan590 on why defense is so difficult to play.

It is like weightlifting. You know you need to do it, and you decide to put in the work. So, you go at it for 5 days. You feel good about it but Saturday, you decide you deserve a break. Then Sunday comes along, and you decide to go watch football with your friends. Monday and Tuesday, you are busy or have plans after work...

Before you know it, you have gone 4 days without working out.

Defense requires CONSTANT commitment and work. You either put that effort in, all day every day, or you are mediocre, at best.

I loved that analogy because we an all relate to that pattern of behaviour. The only thing I would add is that you could apply the same analogy to working hard in the offensive zone also.

The Leafs have fallen apart because they don't put in a full 60 anywhere on the ice.

And you just franking know Keefe is going to let the boys skip leg day.

They had continued success because they had 3X the payroll of any other AHL team.

Leafs fans are all gaga about the "development system of the Marlies" because for the first time in 50 years, we actually have a development system.

Newsflash: it isn't that great. It's just the first time you've ever seen a player successfully come up from the AHL, so you (and that's the collective "you") think it's a great accomplishment.

Here's the truth of the matter:

http://www.hockeydb.com/i...aft/teams/dr00008490.html

The Leafs haven't done anything in terms of developing players in the past few years that would impress anyone.

Selecting the random starting point of 2012, the only guy who "overachieved" was Connor Brown - and many predicted that. It was a case of him being drafted too low.

2013: Johnsson was a 7th round Euro pick. He did the majority of his development in Sweden. Nobody else did squat.

2014: Nothing

2015: Dermott was a high 2nd rounder. Right now, he looks like a 5th-6th guy on the blueline. No miracles from the Marlies.

2016: Too soon to tell, but nothing so far looks promising (maybe Woll).

Please tell me again how the Marlies are giving us a competitive advantage - and explain it to me like I'm a bitter old Leafs fan who is tired of this poop.

No mention to undrafted guys eh....

Hyman and Moore?

(frank) Kap and Johnnson too eh?

Dermott and Holl? Nah no montion of Holl either

Goat and now Tamishov?

Nylander went through the system as well.

Most of the team is consisted of Marlies graduates.

I’ve heard players that played in junior for him never spoke to him once during their time, and he was the head coach/gm/owner

( some players not all )

But I think he’ll do fine, that was a long time ago.

i met keefe at the rink last summer in AZ.

my impression of him after seeing him a few times ... he's easily rattled.

Liljegren has been the Marlies #1 d-man this season.

Sucks that both Liljegren and Sandin got hurt recently.

Kap and Nylander were 1st rounders.

But then you have a lot of undrafted and mid to late picks that are contributing to the Leafs today.

It is insane to say the Marlies haven't done a great job developing.

Two questions for you Wedgie:

Is this based on anything, a rep for being slack or just your assumption based on age, Dubas connection, etc?

Do you think they should have kept Babs or found someone else, currently available?
