I really like what AV said about the $20M third line, no one gets a free pass and they are all on notice. This is the deepest lineup we've had in years, lets get going here.

No matter how Bill lists it, whichever line is centered by Couturier is the "top" line in my opinion.

They are, but it's out of respect to Giroux as team captain, the club's longtime annual scoring leader plus the fact that Konecny is on the line right now, too.

Prospect update. No one shooting lights out anywhere in our system season to date. Top prospects including Brink, OBrien? and York performing fine but not exceptionally. Cole Caufield on the other hand has 9 goals in 10 games for Wisconsin. Lets hope our York plus Brink strategy over Cole doesn't embarrass the team. I am beginning to think everyone who passed on him will regret it.

Why in the world would it embarrass the team? Plenty of teams passed, get over it.

I disagree. Zamula is tearing it up.

Also, should every other team that passed on him past pick #8/9 be embarassed as well?

I feel bad for NoPa.
As I said yesterday I don't see him playing any games this year and possibly not any this season.

- opeth_pa

i find it odd that Patrick's head issue was never a problem in his first two years or was it and we never heard about it? I feel so bad for this kid and the Flyers organization.

First reaction I had is how I love the coach giving a big F U to the 3rd line.

I think maybe he's saying if Morin didn't have a couple injuries and became an NHL regular? I'm not really sure. But either way I'm really happy with Niskanen so far, and not as down on Braun as a lot of people either.

It's a good thing that they have a bunch of prospects including York and O'Brien not to mention Brink and Zemula (others as well). Unfortunately success at the junior or college level doesn't automatically lead to success at the AHL level much less NHL. But its fun to speculate. As these players mature it should relieve the pressure on the GM to make unwise free agent signings. Niskanen and Braun are doing exactly what they should be, providing a calm leadership to our talented young D men.

Zamula and Wylie performing fine as well tho i dont know if shooting lights out accurate.
Yes, any team who passes up a highly skilled 40 goal scorer should be embarrassed esp if they did it bc of the undersized label.
If Flyers felt it was York and Brink for Cole, then perhaps it makes sense.

O’Brien is second in his league with 40 points in 25 games. If that’s not “lights out” what exactly were you expecting from him?

i have read that high level prospects should score close to 2 points per game in that league. next year in college will be his real test. for the 2nd time.

Well then there must be 0 high level prospects in the BCHL because nobody is scoring at that rate. Where as there are 8 players with higher GPGA in the NCAA than Caufield. I think it is a bit early to be talking about anyone being embarrassed.

A number 2 overall pick not available for an entire season (Patrick) and a number 14
overall pick out for at least his 2nd season (Morin). This is a tragedy that the Flyers will have to find a way to recover from. The Patrick issue is why they had to spend "stupid" money on a guy like Hayes, the Morin issue caused Braun and Niskanen to be needed. "The best laid plans of mice and men oft go astray."

2 minute minor, misuse of word "tragedy." Seriously folks, A) it's hockey, B) no one died.

Bob hasn't been at his best, either, but GAA and save percentage reflect team D as much as goalie play.

Try telling that to Tanner hahahaha

9 goals in 12 games

Almost everyone here wanted Caufield, btw so idk why you're telling this to us. We're also smart enough to not judge a draft based on 12 college games...

I was expecting him to be playingin his 2nd year of college hockey with much better competition on a daily basis. Not some inferior league. .
