Well, then he probably should've had more leverage to sign him at a lower dollar if he had zero interest signing anywhere else. He's a great player, but it really is a high cap hit for 6 years. I'd have signed it and dealt with it if I had to, as you are all going through, but I wouldn't be happy about it. - RickJames77
Agreed. It appears Dubas' only choice was to sign him at that number or let him sit. I don't think the latter was/would have been an acceptable choice for leaf nation either. |

Leafs need to go 35-17-4 to reach 100 points from this point forward.
- CarlitoBrigante
Not a problem.
Leafs have Willie 'Selke' Nylander on the team - can go 45-7-4 easily. |

this year should have 100% been a cup contending year. this team is nowhere near it. that by itself should be a fireable offense.
the move should be made towards a longer-term strategy.
if the cards are played right, 2-3 years from now when those contracts are better value because of the higher cap and player development, maybe we can be there.
then we'll have a couple cracks at it; until the big boys are due for their raises. - Tumbleweed
And again, you are making that determination after 20 games... And you think that's an acceptable timeframe at the NHL level? It took 20 games to decide the entire strategy must be aborted, we must remove a GM and behind another plan which entails making moves in 3 years?
That's not how it works... |

that's true apparently - the stats support this.

don't you really mean - just keep playing like you are - for Alexis?
btw....
it would be Leafy to draft Lefrenierre anyway... this is supposed to be a high-end d-man draft...
maybe they should trade down... get a bunch of 3rd and 4th rounders |

You are 100% a guy that doesn't understand that it is actually better for children to be at the adults table.

awesome...
can't wait until Dubas finally realizes that its 5pm.. and he moves Nylander for defensive help.
then blames Babcock.
- BorjeFan4Ever
That depends, Dubas could trade Nylander for a defensive d-man like Gudas, but if Babcock plays Gudas as an offensive defenseman and gives him PP1 time, then the trade would look even worse. |

You act like a child on here every day is what he is getting at.
It is one thing to have an opinion. However you spew your opinions like they are facts 50 times a day. If someone doesn't agree with you you say they don't know hockey.
You have bashed Nylander 50 times today in some sort of fashion. Get over it and act your age. |

not much risk of Dubas acquiring a player like Gudas...
too tall, too heavy...
I'm shocked that Dubas signed Mikheyev... probably had the profile for the wrong guy. |

What a snowflake...
Nylander for Gudas and Gudas gets PP1 time over Rielly and Barrie because he's a gud pro.. It's happening. It's in the works already... Maybe? Probably not? |

That was 70% Babcock, 29% Leafs scouting department, and 1% Dubas.
Dubas was pissed with Babcock going to Russia to meet with Mikheyev to make sure he signed with the Leafs. |

besides - if Selkelander is as good a defensive player as "some" in hear are suggesting.. then trading him Dubas would no doubt be able to aim much much higher.
great defensive player, under-priced contract.. surely readily moved with many many teams interested |

the team is a (frank)ing disaster. completely disjointed. no hope to win if andersen is not in net. just getting to 94 points and a WC is not looking good.
babcock is probably the one to go. i think you need to get to the root of the problem. |
