Right on re: Dom.
Loved him as the backup in Tampa, and he did an awesome job holding down the fort while Vasy was out earlier last season.
I really hope he does well. Guy has zero quit in him. |

Dominique can't be worse then Kinkaid sporting a .887 Save % and 4.24 GAA.
Cory is a train wreck with an .852% and 4.59 GAA. |

Tough break with the injuries for Schneider. Hope he at least gets back to the point of being a capable NHL backup. - smellmyfinger
For sure. I was impressed with the second half of last season, but he just didn't pick up where he left off. Plus we have some serious liabilities in our own zone that don't help his cause. It was a wise move to move the guy, and I hope he can find his form down in Bing. Louis has been a solid 2G since entering the league, and if the leafs get desperate enough, we may be able to get a 3rd rd draft pick out of the guy. |

I know someone who had the same hip surgery who was a college goaltender. He says this is a very hard injury to come back from. His opinion is Schneider never will.
Considering they haven't put Cory on IR or listed him as injured it would seem he just can't perform anymore. It's odd how he was really good at the end of last season, thru pre-season and part of his first start this year till leaving that game after two periods. He's never looked the same.
I think this either ends up LTIR or a buyout....
Dominique doesn't make me feel good but he was miles better then Senn or Cormier in the Bing. - Queenie_5_hole
I remember when he had that hip surgery Ray and management kept using Pekka Rinne as the comp for Cory's situation. Clearly it hasn't gone in that direction which is really unfortunate. He gave the best years of his career to the Devs at their lowest point, and deserves a ton of respect. Dominigue is a more reliable backup option but its all on Mac now. He's going to get the bulk of the starts most likely and if he can keep this level of play going then they may have found one of the guys in the league's next group of above average goalies. |

This just makes me sad. I had so much hope that maybe he had turned things around with how he played at the end of last year and during the off-season. I get waiving him, because you can’t ever really feel confident putting him in net, it’s just unfortunate this is how it has to go down.
Hopefully this isn’t the end for him, and if he plays well in the minors, he’ll probably be back up at some point. I have trouble believing that a tandem of Blackwood/Domingue is gonna be significantly better.
Domingue seems like a guy who can play well when there’s a good team in front of him, which doesn’t really do anything for the Devils.
I’ll be curious to see what effect this has on Hughes. I predict a bad one. Hope I’m wrong, |

It's just all a bit confusing because the team won't say anything about what's happening with him. I mean why the secrecy? |

Everyone plays better with better teammates but he did better well in the Bing and that's not a good team. Granted it's a tiny sample.
Can't imagine what he's going to be thinking when the vaunted Devil D leaves him hung out to dry... |

let him play games in the Bing. He can't hurt us there, and could hopefully only improve his game. If he gets claimed, so be it. more cap space. |

I know a former NHL goalie here in the valley who had the exact same surgery and he said the full recovery to 100% is a year. Said Schneids didn’t get enough time
I could see Schneider back at some point with salary retained. His time as a Devil may be done |

As stated earlier, Cory without a doubt deserves respect. It's not his fault that 1. the timing of his coming here in hindsight wasn't ideal. He was ready to bring a team to the playoffs (2015 for example) while our leading scorer (Henrique) had 43 points and 2. He's clearly been negatively impacted by injuries. It's obvious he's done all he can in terms of trying to get healthy, be a soldier and battle through, and continue to be a good pro/mentor for many of the young guys.
Hopefully, there is a happy solution for everybody involved out there. |

Doubt this ends well. More likely it's buyout or LTIR; but it's hard to say without the team giving any indication what's going on medically. |

LTIR would be more likely. His 6M cap hit is up when Hughes/Boq/Smith will all be up for extensions. A buyout would extend into that timeline. I still think he can bounce back with some more rehab and time in Bing. If so, he could become a tradable player with 1-2M cap being retained. Too early to tell, but I highly doubt a buyout will happen. Look at our simple-minded neighbors, the rangers, who buy out shatts in order to ink Trouba. They have a combined cap hit next season of 14.083M!!!!! That is just pathetic management right there. It is better to ride out any bad contracts, or retain some cap in order to move them, but buyouts are rarely a good option. |

If he’s injured he can not be bought out, even if he is as healthy as he’s going to get it might be better just to bite the bullet and keep his 6 mil for the two years remaining rather than extend the dead space. |

Marchand is the Pepe of this generation. We cant have softies in the lineup today. This is gonna be a war. The team is gonna rally around Blackwood because of the Cory news. That waiver move will act like a restart on the season. |
