Thank the maker!
I hope we spiral and die this year and babs and dubas get fired. Draft high and start fresh next years... - Hockey_Reverend
Keep Dubas. This was part of the plan. Leafs get to fire Limpd!ck AND pick in the top-10. Genius! |

I want the Leafs to draft Drysdale. A small, offensive D-man. |

I think the biggest problem with trading Barrie is that it's nearly impossible to get a better player to replace him considering his very low cap hit. - Scabeh
thats possible, but i think his numbers prior to toronto are what the agent will base his value on. Those numbers, have some clout. |

So Pasta is the measuring stick ...but he's only the measuring stick against which you judge Dubas' signing of Willie?
Leave every other contract and comparable out of the equation b/c they are neither here nor there. If that's the vacuum you choose then yes, I agree Dubas should be dressed in women's underwear and publicly flogged with a cat-o-nine-tails. - The Law
i mean, the only forwards that currently have +7.5M on their 1st rfa deal are draisalt, mcd, ratannen, marner, matthews, aho and eichel.
i don't think nylander is at the top of the class of the next group of forwards that can be named as comparable.
and my problem is regardless of what has happened since pasta and willy signed, willy didn't do enough to earn more than pasta prior to that. |

that's the problem.
the top half of the lineup wasn't playing that badly. they're just not good enough to carry a bottom half of stiffs. - Tumbleweed
I think with the injuries to JT then Kerfoot, then Marner the top half started looking a little too weak.
And the blue line hasn't had enough good minutes from the top4 ..especially Rielly and Barrie.
And ...the special teams has been (frank)ed.
PP - I put on coaching. The pieces are there.
PK - I put on mngmnt. They don't have the right pieces - especially with the injuries.
Inuries/depth - again on mngmnt. It was a risk and it's not paying off.
G'tending - again on mngmnt. They preached load mngmnt with Freddie but didn't provide a solution.
And in terms of who's just not playing up to their bargain. I think the Tavares line is the starting point along with Rielly and Barrie.

I mean we can compare Pastrnak to Marner and say Marner is overpaid by $4.2M - PatC80
maybe. mcd at 2 points per game should be making double what marner makes for 1 point a game.
that's the poopty comparison point now that marner got overpaid.
if he took $8.5M, in the range of aho and ratannen, he would have looked like typical good value as an rfa. |

I mean..sure.. .but you take Jones top pairing reality now at 25 over potential
anyways, its not really a realistic deal. Jones is the white whale |

you are looking at this like a nob...
Its the impact of the trade on a TEAM silly. of course they arent the same value or player... its what the TRADE means to the team. god, why are people so slow? Read and drop your trollish defences. i actually like the leafs.
It is humanly possible to like the leafs and habs, and hockey in general. - munky123

No, you are wrong.
7.5 average salary, 6.9 cap hit due to the 10.4 he got in year 1 |
