let's get real for just a second.

Pastrnak at 6.6 is a GREAT deal
Marchand at 6.1 is a GREAT deal
Bergeron at 6.8 is a GREAT deal

Nylander even remotely close to any of those guys? Nylander is an incomplete, frequently non-compete player at 6.9.

Nylander scoring north of 70 pts would be very good. Nylander at 6.9 with 70 pts is still not a great deal. Never will be a great.

- BorjeFan4Ever

These are all old contracts for older players well into their prime.

Nylander's deal is good.

Marner's deal is bad.

Matthews deal is ok.

this is the leafs pathetic season in a nutshell....

That's my biggest criticism of this organization. Forget the poop PP, the poop PK, the stupid salary composition, the ignorance of the back up goalie spot, the not starting on time, the schedule, the refs, the bounces and all of that.

The players do not, DO NOT, stick up for each other. Forget the fans, coach, assistant coach, GM, media, and everyone else. The 19 players on the ice don't stick up for their team mates. They don't have their backs. They don't care what happens to their team mates. That's inexcusable.

Why the (frank) should anyone care about the team when they don't care about themselves.

You seem to be not paying attention to what 1 time 50 point players have gotten since Nylander signed.
And why bring up contrcats signed years ago when salaries and the cap were much lower?

Don’t forget....
MacKinnon 6.3m
Barkov 5.9m
Huberdeau 5.9m
Jones 5.4m

- mr.sir

Don't forget Rielly @5 million...

Contracts signed long ago will always look good as long as the player plays to their potential.

Imagine if Babs cocahed Boston? Bergeron/Marchand/Pasta would have never played together one shift and their stats would be far worse and people would not view them as the financial steals they are.

Using those guys as a comparable makes the Marner deal even worse too. Right? Pasta at 6.6 and Marner at almost 11?!

Yeah, i'd assume so. He knows a good player with character when he see's one. That line has everything. Sniper, can cycle, can retrieve pucks, plays heavy, can defend, can score, stick up for one another, good at faceoffs.

All things that Babcock gushes over.

Babcock can't even find all those attributes using all 12 of our forwards.

Marner's career high was 24 points more than Patas when that contract was signed.

I love how Ovi and the Caps are now the pinnacle of good ol' Canadian hockey when for years they were perennial underachievers playing a soft finesse game.

Spot on! The book is out on them! Opposing teams have figured out that they now can easily impose physicality through big checks, cheap shots or whatever and they do nothing in response. The only player that seems to show the odd flash of emotion is Muzzin. The rest of the guys seems like soulless zombies out there. No fire in there belly at all! Teams are noticing this and exposing it!

I did not call the Nylander deal Great - that was some other donkey.

I'm merely pointing out that while many here want to blow smoke up Nylander's a__... probably to fluff his hair... if he gets to 70pts consistently during his deal - it still does not make the deal great.

Pastrnak's deal is great. Nylanders will be good IF he hits 70pts consistently - and ceases to directly hand the opposition a goal every single game.

Marner is an overpayment at 10.7 or whatever - but it wasn't I who described Nylander's deall as great....

'cause what idiot would do that?

Being Mike Babcock must be great. Dude is trying to cut firewood with the handle of an axe and people are saying "Well who gave him the axe?"

nylander's deal is the best of the 3. he's already worth his cap hit and it'll just look better as time goes on. matthews and marners contracts are turds. marner 'cause he's overpaid, matthews because the term is too short.

Obviously Dubas should of put together a better 4th line for Babs to put out with two mins left behind a goal.

Stupid Dubas.

He also has to stop buying toys for him. Babs seems to get obsessive over the shiny ones.
