Nylander is a great deal at 6.9. I can't believe I still have to hear he's millions overpaid. If he gets 60+ points again (Lock) he's never had less than 60 in a full season. There are aging 1 time 50 point players getting that now.

Tavares is getting a free pass. He's been terrible. I don't spend a single second worrying about our 22 year-old stars making what they do and the cap and salaries going up early.

Advanced stats say Spezza is very solid.

Nylander is a major defensive liability, his game has to improve fast....

Yep lotto and with the 1st pick Toronto takes ....Alexis Lafreniere
- dozerD10

seriously ... if the Leafs had a top 5 pick...

it would take Dubas about five seconds to begin pondering the trade down opportunities...

I mean - think of it... you could have 4-5 fifth rounders, and couple of 7th rounders.... lots of guys to help get you under the cap.

seriously, with all the top ranked defensemen in the draft upcoming... he'd be an idiot to drop down too far.

but we'll see if he has the balls to go all in... if they're out of the playoff picture by the end of January... move guys like Barrie asap for picks or better yet prospects.
Offer Muzzin a reasonable contract of move him before the TDL.

while I'm not in the fire Babcock camp... they would obviously not have anyone other than Keefe in mind - who else even remotely interesting is out there right now - but moving on from Babcock would likely result in a short term resurgence just before a 18wheeler collapse.

if they are out of a playoff spot at the end of November (or whenever the upcoming road swing ends)... thank Mr Babcock.

then immediately turn to Mr Dubas... and say "now what"?

new father... not sleeping and probably trying to do too much at home.

I would hazard a guess he's much more energetic on the road during the upcoming road trip...

if that proves to be true... time for Captain Pajamas to either check into a hotel or move out of the master bedroom.

he hasn't been as sharp... clearly the number of times he's getting hit is taking a toll on him as well...

also time to move him back down low on the powerplay... where he made his money last year.

The biggest and richest NHL organization (or near to) is not the place for these experiments that we are seeing. We should give the Yotes a 100 mil cheque to run these kind of things for us.

let's get real for just a second.

Pastrnak at 6.6 is a GREAT deal
Marchand at 6.1 is a GREAT deal
Bergeron at 6.8 is a GREAT deal

Nylander even remotely close to any of those guys? Nylander is an incomplete, frequently non-compete player at 6.9.

Nylander scoring north of 70 pts would be very good. Nylander at 6.9 with 70 pts is still not a great deal. Never will be a great.

Hyman in his first game in 7 months got more usage than Matthews. That tells you everything you need to know.

Matthews plays 21 minutes ONCE (Draisaitl is AVG 25 EVERY game this season) Babs says "He playec him way too much" and cuts his TOI by 5 FREAKING minutes the next game to 16,

WTF. How does any of this make sense?

Oh and he had 4 points with 21 minutes...

- RogerRoeper

I think sometimes Babs is trying to tell us something but can't say it directly. I wonder if Leafs management are imposing load management on there stars. Trying to do the same as the Raps did last year in Basketball. Not totally sitting them out games like they did with Kawhi Leonard but limiting the wear and tear on there bodies in respect to Sports Science. Dubas is all about "progressive or forward thinking". Right now none of it seems to be working.

I take it you don't really watch the games or pay much attention, but Tavares is coming back from a broken finger early, which doesn't help.

Nylander was excellent backchecking last night; he had the puck stripped a couple of times, but the neutral zone was a death trap last night in a tight game.

I think Keefe might do well. Marlies seem to play more of a team game and they actually stick the (frank) up for each other. That could just be the players, but they do look a lot different to me.
- Buck Norris

be careful with comparing playing styles in AHL and NHL - Marlies to Leafs.

how many guys on the Marlies are capable and willing to deliver a hit, engage in a fight if necessary?

how many of the Leafs considered themselves to be "above doing that"?

Spezza just stepping over Hyman without even looking at the Boston players is kinda sad really...
