Lol you are not wrong. Dahlin is still a generational talent and only 19.

You don’t ever move that kind of player. Ever.

I think we are understating what a blunder it is by the GM when his acquisitions that have been playing well are going to take turns getting scratched because he didn't address the logjam.

Forget the individual players for a moment. If Miller or Joker are sitting games, it is a colossal failure.

The fact your talking about moving a player that broke records last year is absolutely insane

And if we trade him I'm pretty sure mostly all the Buffalo fans would quit on the team

Every now and again, you should drop a nuke.

Just to prove to everyone else why you don't mess with us.

If you trade Dahlin, you might as well trade Eichel and Skinner and try for another scorched earth rebuild. Sending the "message" that Dahlin's long term potential isn't good enough should send this franchise back to before it was. And yes, I'm saying sell the franchise, sell the seats, sell the arena. You are more worthy of being in the ECHL then the NHL if that happens before he's had time to turn into what's expected of him.

Why is it horrible, 2 forwards that would help us, I mean maybe something different than Virtanen. I hope Dahlin turns into what everybody says. But then we all need to understand that we are still a ways away from truly competing for a championship and give Botts more time to build this team up.

If Dahlin ends up where 99.9% of the "experts" think he will, you don't trade that away.

And if you do, there's no way you're receiving equal value in return. Ever.

- Powerslave

Agreed. He’s 19 playing on a team where all of his mentors have no heart/grit. What did everyone expect? He would be the best defensive defensemen in the league and have 65 points this year? At 19, in the modern NHL? Put down the crack pipe. A message needs to be sent to this whole team. Work your ass off or get benched. Trotz doing an amazing job with the islanders. Huge missed opportunity there not landing him. I’ve loved what he has done everywhere in his career

I quoted him, but it's a response to anyone saying that there is a trade for Dahlin period. (Again, outside of stupid overpayment which will never happen, so doesn't need to be discussed, but still needs to addressed because there will always be someone saying "I'd do it for McDavid")

You do now that I am not advocating a trade, just trying to find ways to fix this team quicker. Most people on here are saying this needs to be done or that needs to be done. Dahlin is not a finished product, might be 2 to 3 years before we see this generational talent come out. So people need to understand it might take 2 or 3 years for the Sabres to be were we want them to be.

I'm sure most would wait 2/3 years, if they knew they were getting 15 more years of generational talent after that.

And if he turns into 80% of a generational talent, that's not OK?

Then why bring it up? Firstly, I'm not saying you can't bring it up, but you have to know that the response to bringing trading him will be GTFO. Fixing teams generally don't include trading your star players in a team that is deficient of star players in a league that is majority run by star players. Of course Dahlin isn't a finished product, I would probably say Eichel isn't either. As someone else pointed out, you're never going to get fair value for him, so how exactly will that help the team quicker? Personally, I'm fine waiting for these pieces plus a few more to come together and all hit their stride. We'll see. Some may disagree and say we've been waiting too long and they would be correct as well. But making a major decision on trading potential superstars because we've waited long enough screams lets race to the 9 seed like we used to, and that was more maddening then watching this IMO.

80% of what Dahlin is supposed to be would be the Sabres best Defenseman in years by a country mile.

Like I said I am not advocating a trade, but 1 player does not make a team.
