i think cancel culture is something to talk about for sure, but the people that talk about it the most; i wonder how much of their privilege is checked before they open their mouths. the most ardent cancel culture debaters are arguable the people that think the least about their privilege and how it applies to the debate and global perspectives of the one who fight for the marginalized more vocally.
This whole debacle has exposed a lot of the simple people that make up this site and the population in general. Seriously, the face palm of comments here is amazing. Closet racists trying to guise their ignorance with semi intellectual responses has been a treat to see but pretty sad too. Stop labeling this as a cancel culture reaction, and embrace your ignorance. If you are scared of the reactions you might get for being a closet racist, or an ignorant uninformed adult, perhaps there is your little voice in the back ground telling you that maybe the way you think is wrong. Perhaps there is hope for you.
There is nothing redeeming about letting someone like cheery talk and spew his ignorance. it does nothing for society and does not spawn any intellectual water cooler debate. Its divisive and this false idol does more harm for the advancement of the species then enlightening people.
WW1 and WW2 vets fought for freedom. Majority, since then has been about money, resources, strategic positioning and undermining the growth of Africa.
If you read, if you stayed informed its all out there for you to learn about. Wear a poppy or dont wear a poppy, you can still honor our vets, but if you are jaded by war and the propaganda machine that comes with it, thats ok too.
Id argue that most of the people that he was referring to, might come from war torn countries. How rich of an old white man to call them out.... - munky123
Actually WWI, was (as per usual) about territory and royal ambitions/Archduke Franz Ferdinand getting shot.
WWII was Germany pissed off at the heavy penalties they had to endure because of the Treaty of Versailles; the German people rallied around the National Socialism movement, and then turned a blind eye (in some cases, were actually ignorant to the details; it wasn't like it is now with information being freely exchanged) to the atrocities "baggage" that came along with Hitler's grand plan in Mein Kampf.
And actually, the Allies very likely would've let Hitler take back their original borders pre-Treaty without conflict... basically war is always about territorial pissings in one way or another, despite the popular narratives. |

I think they give him a game.
He’s had a lot of success lately and has a really nice story behind him.
AHL doesn’t always mean NHL success but I think he deserves a shot. |

Ya if the team continues to play like they currently do...the goalie most likely wont do to well.
Then people will whine and so on and so forth. |

Leafs will get Luongo out of retirement
Does this somehow affect the cap re-capture
... could also trade for DeSmith from Pittsburgh

If you get a chance, there is a 2-part documentary by the BBC called 100 Days to Victory. Watched it yesterday. It was really interesting, well worth the watch,

I'm so sick of this. Keep the offside for Duchenesq goals. If it takes 3 minutes to make a decision then it was close enough and you're just looking for something. With the penalty rule change, they have to 100% get it right this season, and I get that, I'm just talking about the rule in general. I don't care if a guy is an inch offside and wouldn't if it happened against my team. I'm sick of waiting for the face off to make sure a big goal counted. - RickJames77
I'm not gonna lie, if they get it right, I don't care how close it is.
But they should absolutely be doing it faster. And one way to do that is to take it out of the hands of the guys on the ice. Not only are they partially biased because they don't want to have to correct themselves but they have a tiny little ipad to look at.
It should have taken all of 15 seconds to see that it was offside but for some reason it took them minutes. |

You are right. I would have added your summary but its not pertinant to the point i was trying to make. Fighting for your freedoms, fighting against facism was the catch phrase of WW2. Anyone who misconstrues that with bush's iconic " the terrorists hate your freedom" speech, dont know what the (frank) is going on at all...
I had a nice talk about tht with a pal who wasnt all that versed on WW1, it blew him away that all those people effectively died because of the asssination of 1 person.
Lastly, WW2, and the fact the US profiteered of it while Canadians died for 3 years, is one of the major reasons i tend to not like, support or buy in to their bullpoop takes on world policies. That and the 53' coup of Mossadegh in Iran. The US is probably the biggest terrorist state on the planet. |
