If Cherry is fired by SportsNet, why did the president of that network apologize for his comments? An apology sounds like he is in agreement with Cherry. He is sending mixed messages.
The sad thing is, he was speaking the truth. The truth is not right anymore. We live in a sad society.

Huh? He's apologizing because Cherrys comments alienated a group of people who buy their advertisers products.

Probably more like 25 years ago. The guy’s a moron. Always has been, always will be.

Both of us can put forth a list of recognizable names who should have been fired or removed from whatever they are doing. But popularity with the public is directly linked to $$$ so it doesn't happen. Cherry isn't the only idiot available for your viewing pleasure.

The Coyotes have such ridiculous speed. Gotta be one of the top 2 or 3 fastest teams in the NHL. They are skating circles around the Capitals, making them look downright slow.

yes..but my how games change in a hurry in this league...caps come back from 3 down get it to OT.

And if not for the worst rule in all of sports they would have won in OT. That offside challenge/review has to go. When it’s by an inch I say just let the goal stand.

Is it is or is it ain't offside? It was offside, got it right. Eventually. It did take longer than necessary. Perhaps the stripes spent the time looking for an easy exit if things got rowdy.

And if the NHL had that review when the Hawks played the Kings they might have had three cups in a row.

I wish Dach was playing with other skilled forwards. That feed he gave Drake on the 2 on 1 breakaway looked perfect. But the finish wasn’t there. Kinda feels like his talents are being wasted 5v5.

Wouldn’t mind putting him with Toews and Nylander and reuniting Saad with Kampf and Kubalik.

- SimpleJack

Couldn’t agree more. Haven't had a true #1 line since Hoss retired. Give the kid a chance. Heck, let Dach play some center and Toews some wing.

I still can’t believe we lost that game 7. Especially after taking an early 2-0 lead that had the house ROCKING. And after having all the momentum in the world winning games 5 and 6 to force that game 7...it seemed like destiny. To this day the most gut wrenching loss I’ve experienced watching sports. I’ve still never gone back to the restaurant/bar I watched it at. Even though it’s 2 minutes from my house.

It wasn't perfect- it was actually done just a split second too late and that's on Dach. Not a big deal, but just an adjustment.

Dach should be playing Centre -so no reason at all to put him with another C.

Don Cherry is an overt nationalsit, a racist and an imbecile . He tells bulpoop under the guise of a man 'unafraid to be politically correct'. He constantly tells anecdotes of the superiority of Canadians, Scots, Brits and Americans, in that order. He is the worst of us, the one that is so uneducated and unlightened he's afraid of anything that he doesn't understand yet is unwilling to try to understand it. And yet I can also retell a story of the kind act he did for the father of a friend of mine.

I am all for free speech but the times we are in it's time to weed out those among us who try to incite hatred based on ignorance and unfounded fear. It's time for the CBC to put this idiot out to pasture and remove his pulpit where he can spew his unchallenged racist nonsense.

Correct, Just put him with Shaw and Kubalik. Kampf Carp Caggulia on the 4th line. And the lines are set.

I was there and had a real good view. Two of the LA goals were offside. And with that real good view I saw at least six missed offside calls in ninety percent of all the home games. And there was never a game I didn't see at least one. With the speed and size of the players in the game today it's impossible for two linesmen to make accurate calls all the time. It's a great idea to be able to review a call, but leave it to the NHL to screw it up by taking way too long. I think it was Rick who posted that the zebras are afraid to make a call because they fear it will be the wrong call and the replay will make them look stupid and he may well be right. But it's not stupid trying to keep your head on your shoulders while you work a game. Review can be a great tool if used reasonably. I agree that they fall short in using it reasonably, but i disagree strongly that it's the worst rule in sports.

Maybe before that, political commentary aside his knowledge of the game ended in the 70s. He doesn't understand the game has changed significantly. And Rick is right his incoherent rants and inability to use the correct grammar and words made him lookk like that proverbial Drunk Uncle with no filter.

... point of order- excepting it wasn't the CBC that had employed said former coach but Rogers Media.

Look, I agree with the sentiment of donating for poppies on Remembrance Day, ANZAC Day, whenever Legacy is collecting (ok not poppies, there but it is the same idea).

I play on a club over here that has a lot of ex and current ADF guys, and train and scrimmage with WA ADFIHA - it's been a big privilege to be involved with those guys and the first responders that make up a big part of our club.

But -yeh, ok so it could have been worded so it was more of an inclusive type of supportive statement, but I think criticizing the basic sentiment... not sure on that one. I think it is the proverbial double-edged sword.

Who will replace him? Smart money is probably on Burkie, but I'm voting for Peter Puck.

He’s on a competing network, but if SportsNet wants the ex-player vibe I’d go with Ray Ferraro.

If Cherry would of said that 30 years ago, no one would of said anything, I still remember Harry Caray's rant when he was with the White Sox after Jorge Orta dropped a pop up:

Caray: "Ya know, I don't understand it. The last couple years, we've had Latin American infielders who've had trouble catching pop flies. First Luis Alvarado, now Orta."

Sidekick Bob Waller: "I think he lost the ball in the sun, Harry."

Caray: "Aw, how could he lose the ball in the sun? He's from

Mexico."

What's the truth? Immigrants aren't as patriotic than non-immigrants? Immigrants need to step it up and buy more poppies? That's a pretty ridiculous leap of logic and is a DB statement.
