Next up Golden Knights, who lost to Wings yesterday. So are they vulnerable? Or will they be in a foul mood due to that loss and take it out on us? We will find out, but it sure would be nice to get two points.
- Angotti

Vegas has had some not so good losses this season. It's looking like they’re a good team, but not nearly as good as they were the last 2 years.

Lost 4-1 @ ARI
Lost 6-2 @ PHL
Lost 6-1 home vs. COL
Lost 3-2 @ DET

Good! At some point, "he's just from a different generation...that's just his schtick" wears very thin.

Looks like Grapes finally was sacked.

I saw that comment live when it happened. He's a fool, who loves the spot light.

BTW, if the Hawks aren't playing on Saturday nights, the 'Hockey Night in Canada' feed on the NHL Network is really good. Usually starts with the pre-game show 30 minutes before puck drop.

Or will Toews go out in the 1st 5 minutes and challenge Reeves to fire up the team?

Only 900? Would be near 1000 if he knew what he was doing.

Would have been 1000 if Stan hadn’t been so bad at getting him players.

A big key to the recent success IMO is pressure from the forwards, they’re not letting opposing teams get the puck out of their zone easily! I don’t know if you consider that offense or defense, but it definitely leads to more offense. They’re also challenging in the neutral zone.

I think Carp, Smith, Caggiula, Shaw, kubalik, and Kampf are getting used to playing together and with these new defenders Maatta and DeHaan. I can see small gains from knowing or expecting where your linemates will be while on the forecheck. The fact that they are veterans is important too. Also DeHaan, Maatta, Keith and Seabs are reading the forecheck and supporting it better. These small things can be the difference between winning and losing.

he is obviously not fast, but its amazing how slick he can be walking the puck up the ice, eluding defenders....

All he brought to light is the lack of shown support for veterans in the mentioned cities because of the large influx of immigrants. He didnt use the politically correct terminology to reference said people but this is another example of people being over sensitive.

every team is going to have games they get ripped: schedule, matchups etc...

vegas has the hawks number; hawks have never beaten them and some of the losses were entirely one way beat downs...

It’s amazing how we can rationalize all kinds of things - he didn’t really mean it, he just got caught up in it, I wouldn’t have said it that way but....when he says things about other people, not us.

I AM grown up.

Prime Minister-
is found guilty by the Canadian ethics commissioner twice - fires his Attorney general because she told the truth- dresses up in India & goes blackface

Good one, hopefully the captain has more sense than that. How about Shaw? Maybe that will wake him up.

Thought the same thing about Boqvist. I didn't notice him too much and that's a really good thing.

I've been happy with his play.

Gustafsson last night... woof.

Tyler. What frustrates me most on Gus is the kind of things he does to get into trouble. It is often not getting beat wide because he is slow (cuz he is a good skater), often not that he gets tossed around, often not he is getting beat to a loose puck.....no, those things happen to him no more than to most. His problem...in my opinion anyway, is much like Gardiner was in Toronto. Being from Canada I see a pile of Leaf games. The similarities of Gardiner and Gus are astounding. The problem with both is NOT a physical or even hockey skill problem. It is "In the Head". It is hockey smarts. It is knowing when to just chip it out, heck even take an icing...rather than the bonehead pass or soft touch play at your own blueline that backfires. And with them both, the timing of these plays...and the fact so many seem to end in their own net....well, frustrating as all Heck.

OK...I vented.

That's the way I see it though, and I doubt very much ANY kinda coaching can cure it. Unless the player sees it himself and decides to make the smart play at the right times!

What is the exact date Lehner can resign as a free agent? I know if he jumps teams it is July 1. More concerned about resigning with the same team.

A man has to act like a man. He is responsible for what he said knew what he was saying and got fired. This isn’t the first time he’s said something insensitive.

I would agree, however sometimes he seems to be a very competent defender. He made a couple of really nice defensive plays last night. It is like his mind wanders or he is caught daydreaming or he loses interest. It is just that for one shift or a few shifts per game he zones out and loses focus and looks like a bystander.

Why is this relevant? We didn't pick him. He plays a different position. Lets just see how Dach plays for us. If Byram turns into a great D-man for COL, what does that tell us? It tells us he is good on COL. There is no telling how he would do on the Hawks. He could have been better, or could be a disaster. Sorry, I just can't stand this concept of trying to compare players just because they were in the same draft year, but I get bitter about a lot of mundane things.
- Chunk

Sorry, don't be Chunk. If you don't feel there isn'tany relevance in whether or not they drafted Dach or Byram, and I do, not a deal breaker.

The fact they lucked into the #3 slot and that I hope they don't draft that high for a decade to me the choice was/is a franchise altering moment. Huge is an understatement.

Add for me the question of given the choice of a #1 Dman or #1 C, assuming they each turn out that way, for a decade plus is intriguing. I waivered then and still do. ......... Being a Hawks fan and seeing how difficult it's been to fill the 3 center spots after Johnny a gun to my head I take the centerman.

And comparing those drafted around each other is a given in any sport. TrubiNsky will be compared to Mahomes and Watson forever and Pace will wear that till he's dead. Franchise changing/defining moment and the guy could not have failed worse. Who knows how log it will take the franchise to crawl out from the ashes of that decision.

Was my concern with the Hawks on draft day but feel, and did at the time, Dach's floor is a 2C maybe in the Johansen mold.

Can't they sign him at any time? I'd guess they wait until they see the playoff situation before doing anything because of the implications for Crow. Now, if they make the playoffs, I'd guess they'd wait until season was over.
