Nothing to complain about right now in Flyers land..
- opeth_pa

Not a complaint, but Hayes has been desperately unlucky lately not to pick up points. In OT against Toronto he hit the post then perfectly set up Provorov for the GWG in a span of 10 seconds.

When you have a coach with the resume Vigneault has it gives you instant credibility nationally, as well as with the players in the room.
- PLindbergh31

Yet you were doing your usual whining and female doging when Quenneville went to Florida as if it were the end of the world/this franchise.

Better to be unlucky than not be a factor though. But I agree he has been. Hopefully the flood gates open for both him and Jake.

I keep thinking that if Patrick isn’t going to be back soon, they might make a move to acquire a solid 4th line c/w. I do think Frost will be up at some point, but he would be best to start off as a top 9 winger.

I don't think Patrick is going to play this season. I think it would be a mistake to count on him coming back.

Why Hexy? I wasn't a fan of Hakstol and didn't like that Hexy didn't help the on-ice product more (sans JvR), but I think Hexy did a good job of setting the team up. I wouldn't say I resent either, though.

Agreed to much is being made on coaching changes. Im sure it helps but at the same time this team is quite different.

-Hayes has been great for the PK and filled the hole at C that we had last season.

-Niskanen has been great

-4th line is way more skilled and faster than previously.

-Hart and healthy Elliott

-Young players taking the next step in development

-Bounceback years for Ghost and Provorov

These things have improved the team significantly as well.

Quenneville was the top coach on the market. You didn't want him? I mean I know it's tough to compete with the tradition they have in Sunrise, FL.
Vigneault is a very good coach, and I was more than fine with the hire. Never stated otherwise.

Absolutely.

With this said, Konecny and Lindblom seem to be carrying the load themselves.

Really can’t stand Pitlick. I think he offers nothing.

he has been much better the last 2 games

We have a couple of practice days this week and a home game Wednesday, I think there will be some sort of update.

Braun -12 on a team that has a +4 goal differential. Pretty hard to do. What's he on his way to -50?

He has done well defensively but I feel like his offensive game took a step back the last few games. Dont see him as a dangerous player the last few games. Seems to be trying to do too much on his own and losing the puck. Part of the problem is going to be Carsen and Voracek not producing as well.

Difficult to do with their current cap situation. They would likely have to move someone off of the current roster to create cap space. Cap aside when all players are healthy, adding that play might allow them to play Laughton on the 3rd line.
- MJL

I would like that lineup flexibility. The cap is really tight. It’s possible. Salary in the 750,000 range and maybe later in the season...

That backhand pass to Provy that put him in behind all three Leafs was fantastic.

the line is just not clicking, it needs to be changed but at this time we don't really have an option. The top 6 is fine, can't switch Twar and Raffl, the fourth line would be incompetent. Need to just wait for Scott to get back, hopefully he can get those two going.

let Jake and Hayes figure it out. With the kids needing more ice time in the top 6, someone was always going to have to change roles somewhat, Jake is a good choice right now, let's give him a chance to transition.

when Laughton is healthy and hopefully Patrick, I think G will stay at center until the Flyers hit a rough stretch on how they are playing.

At what point does Patrick go on LTIR for cap relief and they fill the center hole ( if they have enough contract slots) Another poster alluded to this and many of us amateur neurologists frankly dont think he will back..Does it come from within or do they make a small deal for a 3rd line center ?

Jake is really fighting it, counted at least 3 times last night where he made a play where he didn’t lift his head.

He has went from holding the puck to long to making blind plays. In a weird way I prefer him to struggle this way, once he gets his confidence back I think he will be just fine. He has been better on the D side. Maybe AV is going to keep jake and Hayes together and have them become a shut down line with hopes when Jake figures it out the O will come.

- wcorvette

I think Jake’s defensive play improvement has been noticeable and impactful. The offense will come. It’s just an adjustment phase. Hayes hasn’t looked himself (From earlier this season) and I haven’t watched him long enough to know what might be up.

Rumour is Flyers may look for a rental C to replace NoPa if he cant play this season.
This team could be a force to reckon with in the playoffs when healthy.

When they need the cap space. Dont expect it to be used until near the deadline if they are looking to buy.

LOL. Yea, lets' resent them. They did most of the painful work in developing these players. Hextall drafted Provorov, Sanheim, Lindblom, Farabee, Frost, Hart, and signed Myers as an undrafted free agent.
If the current coaching staff had the lineup that the previous coaching staff had to play with, you'd be resenting them also.

- MJL

For all the great work Hextall did rebuilding the farm system and getting the cap to a manageable position, the hiring of Hakstol looks at this point to be the most consequential decision of his tenure. AV appears to be getting more out of this roster than Hakstol did and the decision last year to not fire Hak is as puzzling as any.

Past 2 with Raffl and Andrehof he's been noticable in a good way. But overall he's been pretty blah.

Toughest guy in the league when the other player isn't looking.

Patrick hasn't been cleared for contact yet. How does anyone know how the migraines will react when that happens? So that is a huge hurdle to clear.
