Exactly the team that makes sense for Hall (Avs)

Why would they try to win the lottery at this point?

Whoever trades for Hall better do their best to hang onto that first round pick. Taylor Hall is incredible at winning the draft lottery.

Of course Colorado is better than New Jersey as of today. That's not the point. Well if it were always that simple, half the teams in the league would have zero roster players. No body WANTS to play in Arizona, yet they have a full team iced every night. Imagine that! You don't think they'd all rather play for Tampa?

Point is; Hall has a good thing going in Jersey. He's the go to guy, and there's lots of up and coming support players around him. Nathan MacKinnon is a heck of a player, but there's nothing wrong with playing wing for Mr. Hughes either.

Colorado is a team that can win now and has youth in all right places. As good as Hughes may turn to out be, Colorado has guys in MacKinnon and Rantanen who are already there. Plus they gave a competent defense, goaltender, and coach. It wouldn't just the the Taylor Hall show while the youth grows up for a few years like NJ hopes.

You can't just say X is a better team than Y, therefore player A wants to play for team X instead. It's gonna suck for Arizona when they're only able to ice 2 players a game.

I don't know how important it is to him, but he won't be THE guy on the Avs...he 100% will be on the Devils. I know it's important to some players.

That said, I think his leadership is a bit suspect if his behavior of late is any indication.

Yes, because this applies to all players and the salary cap doesn't exist.

Premier/elite players who reach UFA have a right choose where to play like Tavares did because they'll be paid nicely no matter where they go. The average player will generally go with money and security.

Hall will go to a place where he has the best chance to win now as well as the future, and he will be paid nicely no matter where he chooses to go.

JT was a dic# move based on what he did to the Isles! Could have just let them move him for assets and made his deal instead of stringing them along like he did. Its the exact reason I don't want Ray to do this! I want Hall to sign as first choice, IF he wants to be here. If not, move for largest haul you can get. If you can get him to the team he wants to sign with multi year and you get what you want that's good too (I see this as what probably happens). In no way does Shero let him walk even in a playoff hunt. "Taylor do you want to be here for this run? Then sign! If not we have to do whats best for the team"
I trust Shero!

I agree. My only point was, when it comes to superstar UFAs, they can more or less pick where they want to go because the money and term will be pretty much the same no matter where they end up.

I thought I read/heard somewhere that if Shero does trade Hall, he wants to do a sign-and-trade type of trade. If that's the case your getting Hall probably for 7-8 years. Not sure if you want that either.
