No goalie in the NHL has faced as many high danger shots as Hutch. On average this year, Freddy faces 6-7 a game. Hutch faces 12.

It basically comes down to this, Hutch is who he is, but he was set up to fail...

Okay, honestly, the first was soft, but it was also a deflection. The second and third? Did you see the way Toronto was defending on those? The 3rd goal was a series of passes on the PP with the last one across the net, that was soft on Hutch's part?

It was BRUTAL defense. Toronto defenders were backing WAY in letting Chicago skate right in. You let Kane skate in with the puck like that and you will get burned...

- Hockey_Reverend

I didn't say all the goals against were softies, but some of them were. Point still stands, the team doesn't trust Hutch

#Leafs have placed Michael Hutchinson on waivers. He's 0-4-1 this season with 4.44 GAA and .879 save percentage.

Doesn't deserve all the blame for Toronto's performances (and winless record) on second half of back-to-backs, but something has to give there.

I think asking an NHL backup goalie to be better is fair.

No doubt getting 2nd game of b2b is rough. but its the NHL, cant excuse the play all the time

- senstroll

Trade for Lundqvist. His record in back to backs is insane.

For sure. But its too bad that Hutch was set up to fail this year. Unless he stands on his head, do we win that game?

Hutch is useless. I don't agree with the second paragraph of the tweet at all. The losses are on him. He deflates the team and they have absolutely zero confidence in him.

For sure the team needs to be better but the goalie also has to make a (frank)ing save.

- GreatGigInTheSky

I thought the second paragraph was YOUR addition to the tweet!

That makes more sense.

Literally just make a save once in a while. All he has to do.

He's an AHL backup, it was never gonna work.

Team didn’t play well in front of him. Maybe because he sucks and they don’t have any confidence in him.

Easier to try a new goalie and see if that works.

Next up start playing andersen b2b and give him a different night off.

After that fire the coach.

The Leafs play a system that relies on the goaltender to make saves, Hutchinson couldn't... We needed to move on from him.. I wish him good luck wherever he goes.

Jhonas Enroth when the Leafs waived him in 2016: 6 games, .872 save percentage, 0-3-1 record.

Michael Hutchinson when the Leafs waived him in 2019: 6 games, .879 save percentage, 0-4-1 record.

Need to find another mcbackup

and Probably a big reason the Leafs are doing things they way they are, saving Anderson those 5-10 games where the goalie gets pumbled so he can be fresher for the playoffs.

But there has to be a backup who can run out a better record than hutch has

They have always played poor defense, but I think Hutch faces more because the team ends up opening up to try and catch up. That's the ripple effect of being a poopty goalie.

He probably also faces more because it's the second half of a back-to-back and also the team doesn't trust him and they aren't good at defense, so when they fall into a shell, it's looks like some of that play last night.

He's not the worst backup in the league, but the type of goalie that he is, the style of the team that he's playing on sure doesn't benefit him.

The way this team plays defense you could put both those guys in simultaneously and we would still lose...
