Every team has drops. Why does everyone give 10 different excuses why its not Allen's fault?
- Mentalorgasm5

Did you read or just pick something to highlight, not trying to make excuses for Allen, but there's plenty of blame to go around on offense not just him.

I do too but he doesn’t compare to the players we should have
- sbroads24

There is absolutely zero evidence that those would have been the players we would have selected.

Drafting with hindsight is fun.

Should have just kept one of Kane or O'Reilly in our top six

Seriously, if you dont think mayfield has shown signs, you either dont watch football, dont watch anything beside the bill, or do not have an opinion on football that deserves any weight.
- Mentalorgasm5

I also don't need to come on a message board and pump up my football "knowledge" to total strangers.

Just because YOU say he's shown progress doesn't mean sh!t. Mayfield was better last year when his completion % was higher, when he threw for more yards per game, when he threw for only 2 more interceptions than he has this year already and when he took as many sacks as he has this year already.

But keep telling me about your football knowledge.

You don’t get it dude.

When we win, it’s total luck, the other teams kickers miss FG’s, our defense bails us out blah, blah.

When we lose- Allen, just Allen

I am not talking about my knowledge, just point out the lack of yours.

Unless it’s Mayfield, he’s showing signs man

It's not all his fault, he's had a hand in some of it. But to just put it on him is wrong. And to say he hasn't progressed and improved is wrong, he needs to keep growing and improving. But his OC could be doing a better job of helping him too

Like whom? I see guys drafted this year already better than him.
- Slump Buster

Peyton Manning for one, completed 56% of his passes, 9 points less than his career average, threw more INTs than TDs, so many INTs it took almost the next 2 full seasons to match it. He had a 71.2 rating. Those numbers hardly scream HOF, in the conversation for best ever.

He also had 2 HOFers in his offense in Faulk and Harrison right smack in their primes at 25 and 26 respectively. Allen has had... who exactly? McCoy at 30?

Allen literally is improving in almost every category (completion % is almost 60%, up 8% from last year, he has as many TDs as last year in 3 less games, is throwing over 40 yards more per game, etc) and Mayfield's stats are worse, and that guy has way more talent around him.

I’d like a reasonable explanation as to how Baker Mayfield is better
- sbroads24

Wouldn't you take Mayfield over Allen? I would too.

I mean ideally John Brown is a 2nd option in the passing game and Cole Beasley is a third option like he was in Dallas but they aren’t useless.

Allen is apparently the 41st best QB in the league

No. What exactly are you watching where Mayfield has been better?

Because he had two games where he beat up the Bengals last season?

He’s been worse with turnovers and can’t find a way to get OBJ the ball. How exactly is that impressive?

Sure, his stats are up a little bit in some categories. That is, they are up from the absolutely putrid stats that he put up in the past. That said.... this offense is bad. Half the teams in the league have decent (just decent) quarterbacks and the difference between them and him is sizable. We'd throw a parade when we put up 20 points in a game or he passes for 175 yards. We have to do better.

It absoluely isn't. That's how little I think of Allen.

And that’s totally your opinion.

But I asked if you could reasonably make an argument that Mayfield is better, and you can’t because it’s not statistically possible this season.

But most reasonable, logical people wouldn’t let that define or determine Mayfields career.

Just like I’m not going to pretend I know what Allen is until he has a compliment of actual NFL weapons around him

If I'm doing my math right, that puts him behind both of him and Fitz, plus Tyrod, Mariota and Tannehill, plus both of the McCowns and Sam Bradford

I dont think I'm watching the same games where he's playing very competent football. I must be watching re runs of trent Edwards
