Bill do we have any news on Patrick?

Braun does get a lot of PK work but he's starting 56.6% of his shifts in the offensive zone at 5-on-5, largely due to being paired with Ghost or Sanheim. Vigneault said the other day that Braun has to play better and the player himself agreed.

In fairness, Braun has played into some tough luck -- the save percentages behind him are artificially low, and should correct -- and his partners also have not been at their best in many of the games together. But Braun has to play a bit better overall, too.

Thanks again Bill. I wasn’t one of those who was against the Braun trade, but he didn’t seem to be playing up to expectations by my eye test. You pretty much confirmed that.

My personal opinion is that at this point in his career, Braun is a 3rd pair defenseman that the Flyers are asking to play a bigger role.

Unless they move Giroux back to wing, Laughton is going to be the the 4C when he returns.

Laughton I think is fine for 4th C
I think he’s maybe better at wing though

Next 3 games are as tough as any they will face all year. If they get 3 points they will have done very well.

Braun seems to be doing a good job of limiting shot/chance quantity/quality. His 1.82 xGA/60 is quite low and places him in the top-20 dmen in the league who've played 100+ mins. He leads the team (not counting Myers).

And yeah, the SV% behind him has been stupid low... .813%.

Yeah, that doesn't look good, but his xGF% is 52.7%. Think Bill's mostly right when he chalks it up to some bad luck, bad goaltending, and trouble w/ his partners. Braun could be better, but I'm really not sure just how much better we can expect him to be. He's actually playing well defensively.

Expected goals is a BS stat. It's not real. I think he is playing up to his ability. In my opinion he is a 3rd pair defenseman who should be sheltered and play on the PK. The Flyers have him in a top 4 role. The best hope for the Flyers is that Myers continues to elevate his play and Braun's role is diminished.

That would be awesome especislly since he went undrafted and got turned away by Calgary. I guess this is what balanaces out our #2 overall pick being eternally injured
