Bratt joined the team today in Calgary but I believe he isn't practicing.

Simmonds has 6 points in 13 games. Hayden has Richard in 7 games.

John has 2 PIMs (Wayne has 6 PIMs) and neither has dropped the gloves.
Neither is really an enforcer. The difference is Simmonds can play hockey.

The team would have been better off with Q in the minors then having anything to do with Hayden. Guy is a complete waste.

You could argue Wayne isn't worth the $5M but who give a poop what they're paying him.

Decent points for sure. And nobody cares that he makes 5M this year. I was happy Shero took a gamble, as we were desperate for RW's. But lets not forget, Stafford was quite similar in that regard. I would be curious to know how many of those points were 5v5? Hayden will likely never get a shot on the PP. I just want to see some life out of the guy. He just doesn't play with a chip on his shoulders anymore. Between Nico/Hughes/Boq, we have a lot of small guys and if anyone chooses to run them, they better understand there are consequences. Loved what Palms did for Hughes, but we would be hurting if he broke some knuckles sticking up for these kids.

Okay, that's good. He was really starting to get rolling offensively so hopefully he can pick it back up when he draws in again.

I 100% agree with this. I have zero understanding why Hayden is with this team.

On a completely different topic, if Rooney could learn some composure around the net, I would really like him. I've never seen a player panic more in the offensive zone with the puck then him...well maybe Janssen

My guess is the organization gave up on Q and didn't want to keep playing puppy pooh soft. So they thought Hayden might help and thus traded for him with Chicago at the draft.

After that they were able to sign Simmonds in free agency which sort of made Hayden completely redundant; except Simmonds can actually play NHL hockey.

It still wouldn't have been horrible but with the addition of so much legit offensive help in Hughes, Goose and Boqvist there is really no need at all for Hayden. Especially in light of the need to spread Hughes, Goose and Bratt around because they are all defensively weak players.

I don't have anything against Hayden and a decade ago he might have been a fine Devil but the game has moved on.

I haven't watched any Devils games, but how is the Hughes kid doing so far? Is he living up to expectations?

I think Simmonds has been slowly getting more involved and intense. At 31 and coming off a bunch of serious injuries the guy we hated playing against is probably gone.

I also get the feeling Wayne was really a Flyer in his heart and it's kind of just taking him time to warm up to being on a new team and probably one he strongly hated. I got the feeling from the second game against Philly that has getting more comfortable but he's also only on a one year deal an might look at us as a pit stop to re-establish his career. There is a lot of games left so we will see.

I would LOVE to know what Simmonds really thinks about all this.

He's playing well, but realizing some of the moves he pulled against the kids will need tweaking up here.

And he gets manhandled on the boards but he doesnt give up which is awesome.

Lethal shot, passing IQ is amazing but the passes arent on target many times. Kind of like he just throws the puck cross ice and its just slightly off.

He'll get 50 pts this year.

Simmonds has 7 points (5 even strength for the guy asking), has 39 shots on goal (2nd to hall) and could easily have 3-4 more goals with a little luck. If you think he is underperforming your expectations were not realistic. If you think Hayden should be in the lineup over him you are delusional.

You look at Boqvist play and you wonder how this dude is only playing his 3rd or 4th game

Hope he can put up a couple of points soon so Hynes doesn't exile him again.

Team has been trying to pass the puck into the net tonight. And this Hughes-Gusev thing just isn't working.

Broken play breakaway, but yeah. I think that is Hughes' first 5v5 goal which is nice.

Yeah, seems like that whole line is just Zacha trying to keep poop together.

Zacha really is an excellent defensive forward. His play so far has really quieted the doubters.

He's indispensable now with our lack of responsible forwards. Still think there's more to come from him offensively especially if he can find someone he shows great chemistry with.

When he was playing with Nico and Bratt it seemed like everything they touched turned into a scoring chance. Right now it seems like his hands are tied trying to keep Hughes and Gusev in check.
