Jesse Marshall with another great breakdown on Marino's game. Wish he posted more on the Athletic, but he's the best Pens writer by a mile.

He's really the only one worth the subscribing to that site for.

Think. Shuffle. If it's not working for 21 straight PPs, insert him somewhere and move people around. It won't be the first time it happens. Where would you put him on the 1st PP for a try? Right circle? - Barnaby36
Schultz to Geno for the one timer should be option 1.
Well I’m definitely not taking Geno off the right half wall. Sid should be down low. With no Horny, Jake SHOULD be in the high bumper slot. Sid-Geno-Jake as a triangle should be option 2.
If you want to put Galchenyuk on the left wing wall, him streaking to the net ala Ryan Whitney should be option 3 if Geno and Schultz could open up that lane to a back door pass in.
I feel like the bigger problem is the entries on the PP. That’s where they suffer. One thing RW doesn’t mention is how the front forward on PKs now cheat up the ice to remove the drop pass. A lot of them trail the lead puck carrier for that very reason taking away that drop pass and with the other 3 forwards standing at the PKs blue line, there are no other options because the PKers just need to step in front of them and jam them at the blue line.
The drop pass could still be an option but the Pens need to start exiting the zone with a secondary option on one of the sides of the lead puck carrier so the PK forward can’t just cheat that drop pass. |

With a much more favorable expansion draft lol the rules set forth for Vegas were WAY different than the old expansion drafts. |

I just mean as far as taking advantage of teams having to give up players to protect other players. |

Upside. Yzerman is making low risk moves with Erne, Perlini, and Fabbri. If one of them can turn into a 20 goal guy it’s great. If not oh well nothing lost really. |

Marino playing top minutes again. I'm waiting for the Yinzers to start talking about him like he is the next leader of this D. |

If they win this game and he has a good showing, get ready for the trade Schultz stuff and Marino to take his place. |

Marino’s blindpassesthroughtheslot per 60 are nowhere near the levels needed to lead the Pens defence. |

A.) R^2 is not a measure of correlation. It is the coefficient of determination. R^2 denotes the amount of variability in one measure that can be explained by another. The correlation coefficient (R value) of both of the plots is actually extremely high, by most standards.
B.) Assuming that a correlation is suggestive of causality is one of the fundamental mistakes in freshmen statistics. |
