did you notice who?

... and if you kept watching the discussion was very clear, that it was about habits, not about talent.

Because sock-puppet disagreed doesn't change the fact that the observation has been made.

It's true, he is Kessel all over again, sorry.

Yeah sorry I don’t see it.

Kessel hadn’t even played a playoff game at 23
- Santo_44

The only thing Kessel and Nylander have in common is their back checking and body checks.

I like Willie, but man he doesn’t play the game of hockey like most of us would like. Even Tiny Tim and Moore throw their weight around and they’re 1/2 his size.

Last night we’re on the PP, Nylander goes behind the net and sees an opponent, he cowers and LA ends up on a 3 on 1 break.

He has great edge work and can make some slick moves away from the middle of the ice, but after that....I don’t know anymore...even on his goal last night...he almost ran out of room trying to pass it to AM...not sure what Quick was doing...and his assist went off his shin pads I think? ( at least he was in front of the net )

probably the same folks that would've questioned sundins leadership

some people don't know how to enjoy anything

- daeth

Matts got roasted all the time. Not a leader, doesn’t use his size, plays with more heart internationally.
Pat Quinn took heat all the time for not giving him more minutes.
Some things never change.

15 pts in 15 playoff games before the age of 22.

We should have at least considered him.

I did actually like Matthews.

Now, definitely not (even while I realize he has the best shot in the league)

He is soft, lazy and over-entitled. He is nowhere near living up to that contract and will be gone in 5 years.

Hopefully he grows up, but I think he is just too arrogant.

Mats was a beast.

He was not running around throwing checks, but he fought through all the physical stuff for years.

He might be the best Leaf ever. (he would get my vote)

Matthews is a top 10 player in the league. Easily.

You can keep seeing what you want to see, but I’ll enjoy having him on the team.

I honestly hope you never do.

I was on an island with Bernier ... it took a while.

Hopefully Matthews grows up before it happens, but there has been a few people and now some media, seeing the same stuff I am.

You already noted he has not played well defensively this year and he is not top 10 PPG.

Right now, there is zero that suggests he is a top 10 player.

There was a 10-year period where Sundin was the only player in the league to get 80 points every year. (Stat is somewhat misleading because Jagr missed a year).

The criticisms are not similar.

Mats got blamed by (frank)ing idiots who didn't see the utter pile of poop he played with for most of his time here.

Matthews is starting to catch flack for lacking pretty much everything except a good shot.

EVERY night you can see an example of Matthews' controller disconnected.

If anything, he is being given a free pass by Leafs fans because we want so desparately to have one of the best players in the league. He isn't there yet.

Call him out when he does it but you are going way way over the line here my friend.

As you usually do when the leafs lose a few games.

Now TSN talking about Matthews habits and being like Phil Kessel.

Hmmm, who said that earlier this week.

- Aetherial

Is this the same tsn guys that are normally considered to be idiots. But now they are smart I suppose.
