Sorry but you are wrong. I don't like the government Ontario elected, the city I live in has never, not once, sent an MP to Ottawa that I have voted for. I don't cry about it or threaten to leave.

I strongly feel that our country needs proportional representation, and I even understand that some people might not feel like they're being represented - that's all fair - but as soon as you start talking about breaking up the country, you sound like a joke, and a baby.

If the rest of the country so strongly disagrees with you, maybe ask yourself some hard questions. But the immaturity of the separatists is just pathetic.

Get mad at me, but literally everyone is laughing at the idea. And again, this is a small minority of crazy people trying to get their way by being really loud. The worst thing we can do is patronize them and pretend to take them seriously.

You have a problem, act like an adult. But saying you want to break up my country? Well the guy above used an acronym that says it best.

- James_Tanner

Live here, you'll get it.

Literally everyone... JFC you are truly a clown.

As for acting like an adult, treat us like an adult. All I've heard from ass-clowns like you is how we are acting like spoiled children, whining and complaining. Is the notion of separation realistic, no but there's a reason why its gaining traction. To use your statement, maybe ask yourself some hard questions, like why? This goes way beyond election results. We are hurt because people like you with attitudes like yours disregard the loss of over 100,000 jobs and our contribution to this country.

No separation isn't then answer but something HAS to change!

This may be the most asinine thing you've ever posted and really shows how out of touch with reality you are. Have you ever spent significant time outside of the GTA? I've lived all over the country and the morals and values that people hold are vastly different in the different areas of the country. The only places that are stereotypically Canadian are Ontario and the Maritimes. Sure, it's nice to have a diverse country, but it really doesn't work when choosing a government. Whatever the Maritimes and the GTA decide they want come election time, pretty much always happens. How does it make democratic sense that the people of the Prairies or the people in Quebec really have zero impact on the government that is making substantial choices for them? The Conservatives swept the Prairies, but it didn't matter. It's still the Liberals making decisions for them. The Prairies pretty much unanimously decided that they didn't want the Liberals making decisions for them anymore, but it didn't matter since the election was over before their polls even closed. Why should they want to be a part of a country when they have almost no influence on how the country is run?

You can call the Prairies the Texas of the North, but it's not just a small group of crazies. The majority of the Prairies feel slighted by the democratic process in Canada, and they should. They have no say. The biggest reason for the Prairies and Quebec not to separate is because it would suck for the Ottawa. They are filled with entirely different people with entirely different wants and needs. Why shouldn't they be able to elect their own people to govern them and make their decisions?

If North America was a country and you knew every time you voted it meant nothing because more people lived south of you, wouldn't you have an issue with that? The GTA is always going to get to decide what's best for the country because more people live there. How is that right?

This is an Arizona Coyotes blog. Can we please stop discussing secession and oil and get back to talking about the Islanders and Leafs?

Let's just cash some more of the $600 Billion in equalization cheques written by Alberta and get back to hockey. For a good laugh, watch Kessel in OT last night. The guy basically stopped skating and doubled over to catch his breath while Raanta let in a garbage goal to blow a 3-1 lead. Flames won the game. Unclear who had the better Corsi though. Tanner can confirm.

It's hard to imagine a scenario where an oil-worker would end up in Tanner's mom's basement.

It's been noted for years that the west doesn't feel represented by the governments that Ontario and Quebec elect. I don't think it is unreasonable for them to be disenchanted by a system that pays them no heed yet reaps the benefit of their natural resources whenever it feels like it. Not pro or anti separatist, but I think it's a little outrageous to call what these people are feeling a joke.

The oil belongs to Canada. Alberta benefits greatly from it but the rest of Canada is also entitled to a share. If the oil dries up Alberta will be on the receiving end. It’s just the way it is.
The eastern voters didn’t vote against Alberta, they just didn’t like what was offered by the Tories.

Hmm, OK. Well the maple syrup from Quebec also belongs to Canada. So do the dairy farms in Ontario, those grassy hills are a natural resource. So Alberta would like a share of that revenue. While you are sharing that revenue, I hope you don't mind that Alberta elects a government that brings forth policies that make it impossible for Quebec to sell syrup and for Ontario to sell cheese. For example, we think that harvesting syrup damages the forests and the cows cause global warming. So transporting syrup and cheese on Canada's highways is illegal. Too bad if that harms your economy. P.S. We'd still like you to send us equalization cheques though.

There's nothing I said that would bother anyone. I said that people who want to break up the country are idiots. I acknowledged that they should have better representation and that they should fight for it.

I simply mocked the people whose reaction to not getting what they want is to leave.

I could be wrong, and I'll pre apologize if I am, but I do believe that before free trade when Ontario was a manufacturing powerhouse, that we sent equalization payments for decades.

How it could matter to anyone is beyond me. Who is being hurt? The discussion is illuminating , interesting and everyone is learning something. Plus pretty much no one has been a jerk or had to be banned? What's the problem? People whining about stick to hockey seems to be the only one.
