It’s all Malkin’s fault.

Honestly wouldn’t blame any penguin on that play and just give straight kudos to Marchy for being a beast. That goal was all him. Pens did everything they could to get that puck off him and he somehow got it over to Krug for a (frank)ing laser beam.

Just one of those plays you tap your stick to an elite hockey player.

Nobody is denying that him and also Dumo committed egregious errors. Saying this is why Geno was left off the top 100 and Sid wasn’t? Dumb.

Per Yohe - it’s possible a groin issue for Letang. Those can be so (frank)in tricky, so hopefully it’s just a couple of games.

To me there's only two scenarios you trade Bjugstad:

1) He's part of a deal to upgrade the defense.

2) Cap dump for a much larger move.

I think it's a fair trade there but I wouldn't want to trade Bjugstad. Can't teach how to be 6'6", a good skater and good defensively.

I'd explore another option for Toffoli though.

Fair enough... I just think we need a right handed sniper....nothing against Bjugstad but hes easily replaceable w/ McCann

Agree entirely. Bjug is replaceable. Get a RH sniper to replace the old RH sniper.

I'm really encouraged with the Pens.....just wish we'd win a couple of these games when they're playing so well.

Maybe the Pens should go back to being out-shot and hemmed in their zone all game - they managed to win at least one cup that way 😘

I doubt the Rangers or Devils would deal big names within the division, but if they concede this is another season to finish low, I could see the Pens going after Hall or Kreider.

Of course the old adage that other teams can easily outbid the Pens is there.

The pens effort was definitely better. No complaints except for the usual lineup design. Kahun needs to play with offensive players.

Last night hurt. Gotta think we'll be getting better tending than that more often than not though.

Malkin could have played that better, maybe go thru Marchand to get the puck. Don't forget Marchand didn't have control of the puck when Malkin went after it. I liked his aggressiveness, timing may have been bad with a one goal lead.

Plays like that are why Crosby is in the top 100 and Malkin is #101.

Can't believe you said that Thunderbolt

- Barnaby36

That didn't translate from my brain to the keyboard. What I wanted to imply was Crosby makes that play one way or another. Crosby uses his feet better than anyone I have ever seen. If he misses the puck with his stick he would have kicked the puck ahead.

Besides doesn't Malkin refer to himself as Mr.101. He didn't take the slight too seriously. Personally, I never looked at the list and probably never will. Just doesn't matter.

I'm actually wondering if Kahun will get another shot with Crosby now that he's rolling.

He should. I was going to post the same thing earlier. I'd continue to rotate players on that line since there's no pure sniper on this team.

without looking, i feel like his possession stats are likely similar. As I stated last night, dude has some sick hands in tight and wheels to boot. It also appears that he has the scoring touch that Simon lacks. If he gets tried there, and sticks, what a pickup that would be!

Edit: similar to Simon's

I’d like to see him with Galch and Geno.

When Horny gets back drop Rust to the 4L and put him with McCann and Bjugstad.

I really like the Tanev-Blueger-ZAR 4th line. But I think Lafferty deserves a full time spot.

Obviously were dealing with injuries but I still think one of Hornqvist or Bjugstad will need to be traded. Would be eyeing RH sniper or Johnson replacement...

Kahun's are actually better, some of the best on the team. Simon hasn't had the same analytics to this point. He's not even top 10 on the team in xGF%, SC%, or HDSC% and Sid's WOWY's are significantly better away from Simon (though in a small sample).

#Pens HCMS:
- Malkin maintenance day
- Letang still being evaluated for a lower-body injury
- Dumoulin went back to Pittsburgh to be with his wife & newborn baby

But if Simon hasn't been a statistical darling this year, how will the narrative change??

Simon's numbers go down even further if you look at when the game is within one goal or the Pens trailing.

Tedy Bluegers numbers go up when considering those metrics. I would like to see if he can play his off wing.

Still relatively early, but the problem with the Simon narrative is it's too based on last year. He doesn't have a long career of doing that, so he might not repeat it.

Blueger has the worst numbers on his line, I don't think playing him out of position is going to make him a play driver.

Kahun, McCann, and ZAR jump out, and Kahun seems a good ES scorer.

The problem with Simon is the defensive numbers have cratered this year. He's still creating chances, but what set him apart is how they gave up fewer when he was on the ice and now it's some of the worst on the team. The whole top line has struggled some though, especially when playing away from Letang.
