I am not a huge Spezza fan, but considering he scored and had an assist in the last game, it's a surprise he is sitting.

I can understand why Babs isn't a huge fan of Spezza, but making him, the what? 7th shooter in that shootout against the Caps reeks of something more personal than just hockey.

If you have Spezza on your bench, he should easily be on of the first 3-4 shooters. He showed why on Saturday. 36% career shootout percentage which is better than any of the current Leafs.

Has he taken many this season? Penalties can happen, but if a guy has a good game otherwise he should be rewarded. Especially considering our schedule is all of a sudden lite...

Shore and Spezza are similar in value. It’s not a surprise some will like Shore over Spezza.

But yeah, 2 penalties for a 4th line player isn’t good. It’s not why he is out of the lineup...it’s simply because Babs hasn’t made his decision yet...or a team out there is asking the Leafs to play Shore because they are interested in him.

Like I said, a waste of time to complain about.

So they have 22 on the roster right now, with the bubble players being Petan, Marincin, Timashov, Spezza and Shore.

Once Hyman is activated, only 2 can stay. Petan goes down. I think Timashov stays. So it's between Marincin, Spezza, and Shore who stays.

Whoever is kept is likely in spot duty, but I'd be keeping Spezza.

Hyman - Tavares - Marner
Johnsson - Matthews - Nylander
Mikheyev - Kerfoot - Kapanen
Timashov - Gauthier - Moore

I'd swing him in for Timashov and Gauthier alternately or use him for injury replacement in the bottom six where Kap or Mikheyev has to slot up in the line-up.
