I don't get the hate for Allen, other than we're desperate for him to be real good. He IS good. the offensive play calling is suspect, the line isn't good, and his receivers drop a lot of balls. they were talking up Lamar Jackson as an MVP candidate and his passing numbers were WORSE than Allen's last week. We almost beat the Pats, and can make a case we would have had Allen stayed in the 4th quarter, his best quarter by far. The sky is not falling. We're not going to get credit because, duh, Bills. Just keep winning. Beat Cleveland.

Allen, for the most part, has been okay (queue the DirecTV commercials). He needs to be better, but he's not killing them. With this defense, assuming the struggles against the run over the past 3 weeks are fixable, it's enough to win this year.

Agreed. I think this year is about them winning games (however the team can do it), and Allen learning to protect the football. Next year, I want to see him put it all together. Consistently throw for over 250, 0-1 turnovers, and start having statement wins against good teams.

While I like McDermott, I wonder about the overall mentality he brings. A friend of mine and I were talking about it the one day. He just doesn't seem to have the personality type to just go out and run teams over. Just doesn't seem to have the killer instinct that you'd like to see. I'm probably not saying it quite right, but I guess he just doesn't seem like the guy that's going to have the team go out and just blow out an inferior team. He's a bit more conservative than I'd like at times I guess.

I get what you're saying, but I have always thought that he doesn't believe he has the horses to do it. He and Beane have spent the past 3 years beefing up the defense, and it's only this year that they seemed to really strengthen the offense, only somewhat. Hopefully, that changes next season.

The Bills have had a vanilla schedule to date. The offense has been putrid at times and has held this team back, IMO.

We will find out what they are, over these next 6 weeks.

Lose to Cleveland and I will not be a believer. They very well could end up 9-7 and miss the playoffs with a loss this week.

The Daboll hire was and still is asinine.

Daboll has been an OC for 6 years and his highest total offense rank is 22. He has never had an offense not be bottom 5 in passing.

I can agree, I feel like he doesnt want to put his foot on the gas. The DC in him seems to come out and he thinks im up 2 scores my defense will pull it out lets go ultra conservative.

I don't necessarily think that's it, though. He went for 2 in the Cincinnati game after the offside penalty on the touchdown, and he's gone for it on 4th and short more often than he ever has, even with the lead. That's something he wouldn't have done two years ago, and probably not even last year. I think he gets "conservative" because he doesn't believe he has the personnel to air it out successfully. Whether or not that is a flawed approach is a completely different argument.

Will do you one better.... whos the second best qb in the division as a whole since Brady took over? The answer may also be Bledsoe
I could debate that fitz was the best in the drought for us

I think you're right. The only other name I can come up with is Vinny Testaverde at the tail end of his career

I'm still not convinced he could be signed off the street as a free agent and wouldn't be serviceable, even at age 60 or whatever he is now.

after reading 20 hours of b!tching about the o coach and allen

did anyone go outside the past 2 sundays

heard it was pretty crappy, for a passing qb

team is 6-2

best realistic expectation at this point was 6-2

Fitz was probably the best passer

Sanchez had the best results

Vinny was the safe steady guy

The one thing that I need to see from Allen at this point is to stop fumbling. It's been a real issue for him this year. He needs to protect the ball better. There are other areas of his game that could be better, but the one that I feel needs to be corrected ASAP is the fumbling.
- HonkFortheGoose

Horrible quality. Let’s get Allen a ball to carry around town....

It’s good expectations are being raised. And that includes for Allen.

Bills finished last season 4-3 after being 2-7 with Allen hurt

He’s 10-5 his last 15 starts. With probably 3 games I’d say we’re “bad” to “really bad”

It’s definitely progress. Now go get him weapons after this year and see what we have

I like the direction they're headed, and I'm enjoying this season for the most part. But there's definitely still work to be done. It's nice to feel like they are for sure headed the right direction. The last 8 games will be harder than the first 8. If they can clean up some of the mistakes, it'll help over this final stretch.

https://ftw.usatoday.com/...gs-seahawks-eagles-frauds

These two things can both be true:

(1) Josh Allen is a lot better than he was a season ago.

(2) Josh Allen is still one of the NFL’s worst starting quarterbacks.

No matter how many wins the Bills stack up against bad football teams, I just can’t get on board. Allen is mediocre on his best day, and, all of a sudden, the defense isn’t playing at an elite level. That’s not really all that surprising given how volatile defensive performance can be. If Buffalo isn’t playing defense at a high level, this team has no shot at winning a playoff game on the road.

Three quick takes

1. Playing the last two weeks outside in Buffalo is different then playing a Matt Ryan schedule where 90 percent of the games are in a dome

2 kid is young

3 how many drives went 40 or more yards this season and stalled due to dumb penalties
Sacks that were unavoidable
Or bad play calling

More then most teams

Relax it's only going to get better

And right now it's better then the last 15 plus years

We never got bonus points for playing the patriots twice a year, so I'm very much over people saying "bUt ThE ScHeDUle iS EaSy!"

IM a tad young for it but in the early 90's did people say the same when we played the Jets and Patriots then?
