The end of the second couldn't come quick enough for the Bruins. The are a good team and when they got a chance to relax and compose themselves between periods, that was big. Next both Sid and Rust had very good scoring chances that they couldn't bury. Lastly the Krug goal was just what Boston needed. Marchant made a heck of a play, beating both Malkin and Rust. I thought Malkin and Rust both did the right thing, Malkin going for the steal and Rust taking the body. Marchant just made the play.

I had no problem at all with what Geno did there.

Really where most of the goals were scored from, those weren't prime scoring areas.

Lost of coaches would argue your point on how you play Marchand there in open ice, many coaches would say “It’s when you go at him with a poor angle when he can make you look stupid” which he did. My approach with guys like him was to just always keep around a stick lengths gap, don’t get too aggressive to get beat, wait for the right opportunity (preferably when they’re going to their backhand)

So am I the only one who thought the turning point was simply Letang going out? Team couldn't press the same without him.

I like those 2nd and 3rd lines. Bjugstad finally looked like last year.

Ultimately, 3 bad angle goals against was too much to overcome.

Pettersson-Schultz I believe at one point we're up 7-1 in scoring chances against. But that one was both of them chasing the puck with Marchand and Pasta in front of their net. That's what I'm coming to expect from them: a weapon that helps control play, but they get a little lost when forced to defend too long on a shift.

Definitely a factor towards end of the game but I really believe if we had the Murray of the 3 games before, we'd of won. He had an off night, not worried about him or the team after what I watched last night. They looked absolutely dominate for very long stretches against the hottest team in the league. I also think that if ZAR didn't stir the pot that resulted in that 4 on 4 we'd of seen a different end result.

Not sure why this whole post is bolding....

Petterson-Schultz: that is a tough one, right now I like it. I agree they struggle in their own end, but they do have time to become a very good pairing. This could very well be the key on just how good this team becomes.

Malkin could have played that better, maybe go thru Marchand to get the puck. Don't forget Marchand didn't have control of the puck when Malkin went after it. I liked his aggressiveness, timing may have been bad with a one goal lead.

Plays like that are why Crosby is in the top 100 and Malkin is #101.

I like them as a pair, but plays like that are still going to happen. If the Pens forwards are able to maintain possession when they're on the ice, it will be a positive, but Pettersson-Schultz will be vulnerable if the other team can get a cycle going against them as neither defends the net well. Really good in the other 2 zones though and at breaking out.

Pretty much sums it up for me. I thought the comeback was amazing. A lot of teams would have fizzled after their goalie let in some bad ones and were down by 3. Nice to see.

Geno just about had a breakaway with a chance to ice it. Can't fault him for keeping his legs moving. I think if anyone gets some criticism on that play it's Rusty. Still a great play by Marchand and an absolute laser from Krug.

Honestly wouldn’t blame any penguin on that play and just give straight kudos to Marchy for being a beast. That goal was all him. Pens did everything they could to get that puck off him and he somehow got it over to Krug for a (frank)ing laser beam.

Just one of those plays you tap your stick to an elite hockey player.

Tampa was the team to beat last year and we saw how that turned out. Everyone is trying to project stuff wayyyy too early. We aren't even 20 games in. So many things can happen between and the middle of the season, let alone the playoffs.

Teams will fizzle, surge, get major injuries, make major trades, etc...

Absolutely but so far against 2 hot teams we were more than able to hold our own. I think Edmonton is playing way above their head but Boston was a good testing stick and although we lost 6-4 I think they played pretty well and showed they could play against a top contender that is red hot with all the big guns in their lineup.
