LA is about to be on a full rebuild.

Living in fantasy land for a moment, what do you think it would take to get Doughty and would you do it?

A lot of unlikely possibilities would have to happen, but just for fun.

If all parties agree to waive for this block buster trade.

TO LA: Hornqvist, Schultz, Bjugstad, 1st rounder + their choice of any Penguins Prospect

TO PIT: Drew Doughty + Tyler Toffoli (50% retained

Fix, amend or suggest a better trade idea. I put Schultz in there because they can flip him for more assets.

Don’t think I want any part of Doughty and that contract.

Not even to last the window? Who cares after the next two or three years. Can you imagine him and Letang manning the top two pairs?

I agree with you 100% here. Keep the youth movement going. I also strongly agree with Tojo, let these guys play for a bit and let’s see where the dust settles for a bit

I saw lots of Avs talk on the last thread. I just watched them get shutout by the Coyotes on Saturday. Anyone who thinks they’re a one line team can’t even look at a stat sheet. They have 11 players averaging half a point per game or better. Before Saturday’s game I heard Cole was leading the NHL since his return with like +13 or something. He’s been really solid for them

Bjugstad has no points in 5 games and a pretty high cap hit. He’s not a trade chip at this point

Saw some comments about Gudbranson. His goal wasn’t anything fancy but he’s eating a lot of solid minutes for them out there. He’ll settle into a third pairing nicely (I hope) when Manson returns

I think we will see a few different looks. Rust is pretty fearless about taking the puck to the net, so this is when I question whether or not you watch the games.

Rust taking the puck to the net is the equivalent of my sister taking the puck to the net. She’s got some more snarl though.

I'm convinced the Pens can extend the window with some smart decisions and a little luck. Giant cap hits for aging players is probably a mistake.

I agree. I don’t know what kind of player Crosby and Malkin will be in their mid 30s but it wouldn’t surprise me if Crosby is at or near a PPG pace until he’s 38 - maybe later. Who knows, maybe we’ll have a D unit like Nashville’s in the future 🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s too bad about Hornqvist but with everyone healthy I think we’ll be fine. Galchenyuk also plays both sides on the PP. he has a solid 1T but he also has a strong snapshot/pass from his strong side. Other teams are using this same approach of having players passing from their strong sides (Schmaltz does it for AZ)

I think If I was going to go all in on trades like that it would be for an up and comer like Chabot or Quinn Hughes.

Exactly, I think Sid will produce past his mid 30's. Malkin probably needs to adapt his game a little bit, but I could see him producing for several more years. They need to hit on a couple of prospects (like Guentzal)....that's the key. I'm praying Rutherford doesn't take on any players with term at the deadline.

How I feel when you drool over a “controlled zone entry” that leads to a goal. Never mind 2 d men kept the puck in after that. Thanks for making my point.
