Hawks continue their Dr Jekyll / Mr Hyde routine.

Let's hope for the Jekyll persona to stick around

Well they are a young team, so...

Crow with two wins, one each against the top two teams out west. Read whatever you want from this.

I read it as he is still a very good goalie when he gets defensive support and some goals.

That is correct, and he also seems to get up for the good teams. Some here have him as washed up, if we get our stuff together and sneak into the dance, I want him in net, a proven playoff goalie.

Great win, the boys really needed it. Man, Markstrom is an adventure when out of the net. 2 en goals, 2 pp goals. I didn't see much to complain about.

This is a tall order, but I agree with your point. I see no problem with the Hawks carrying both Lehner and Crow the whole year. Best tandem we will have had since we were actually good. We just need more consistent efforts in front of both.

Last game Toews was frustrated with the cheap hooking calls, but did you notice Cat's first goal? He was slashed and hooked, and the refs arm stayed down. Good thing he scored or that would have been ugly.

Seems like the refs were pretty lenient tonight on both sides. Definitely some egregious no calls on both teams.

Good win ,Nucks look a little asleep to start the game ,HAWKS weather the storm and put them away . 4th lined played well .Crow was solid . And Toews is coming around . All good signs .Hope the boy's can get on a roll .

Maybe they stopped listening to Marc Crawford tonight. From my research Crawford’s style is the dump and chase.

you don't say...

Colliton just said in his presser: "we have to skate...when this team skates, we're excellent"

That was funny. He took it to the media for what they have been saying about the team. Did it with a smile, too...

I haven’t seen the presser but damn isn’t that a bit of proof of the cancer theory in the locker room.

many on this board have been writing off crow as DONE since lehner arrived...

lehner and crows stats 5v5 are very good and almost identical

the difference has been the pk: crow has allowed 8 goals and lehner has allowed 2

Great game tonite. Nylander' backchecking abilities is a treat to watch. How can they play like this against a good team? How will they fare in Pittsburgh? Stay tuned, I guess. Need to win three or four in a row just to see what they have stored up in the future.

Ever since he came back in from being benched, he understands that he has to put in the effort and keep moving.

I have said all along it was Crow net to lose ,and his play up till tonight has open the door for Lehner to take over .I would go back to Lehner in Pitt ,and if he good ride him against Tor the next night .He a big boy

From Powers' post-game article:https://theathletic.com/1...hawks-win-over-vancouver/

Bonus: In my conversation with Kane, I asked him whether he had continued confidence in Colliton after a year of him being the coach. You may have your own opinions, but Kane said he did.

“He’s a great coach,” Kane said. “He’s a smart mind. I think you saw last year when he came in we struggled a little bit at the start to get used to some things and then we really took off and it was fun games. I think we have a better team this year. We have a better defense. We have a better goaltending. There should be no reason why we shouldn’t be able to replicate that or do even better.”

I get that he is slow, but I don’t understand the hate for Smith. He is a solid 4th liner. Makes smart plays, can forecheck, Doesn’t try to make plays he can’t. Two shots on net, and 50% at the dot in 12:00. What am I not seeing that everyone can’t stand this guy?
- Chunk

You are correct. Although some penalties = perhaps too many from him. Until someone can do the things he does as well + is a better skater, his job is as 12th forward/extra. The cap hit means only if you can afford him in his slot on roster.

Always nice not to have to hear it from the locals. Would be nice if they could string a couple games together like last night's and go on a roll.

I liked how the lines looked and think Kubalik draws back in next game with Dach and Shaw/Caggiula...and whichever of those isn't on the third line plays with 64 and 22.
