Minor trade between STL and DET, Fabbri for de la Rose. Fabbri, if I remember, had a promising start to his career then got injured.

Yzerman channeling his inner Bowman, trading for former 1st round draft choices. Hawks traded up to nab Schmautz before St. Louis drafted Fabri that year.

Tell me about the time the core won 3 Stanley cups and Olympic medals? Norris trophies, MVPs and Conn Smythes?

The horrible core also made everyone in the Hawks organization multiple Cup winners, and millions and millions of dollars for others that were along for the ride on their coat tails.

They put the respectability into that organization- not Rocky, McDonough or anyone else. It was that horrible core and their winning

Speaking of Schmaltz 4 goals and 10 assists in 15 games this season.

Fabbri was the guy I wanted that draft year and was disappointed when the Hawks made that deal to move up and draft Schmaltz. Turned out to be the right move. Credit the Hawks scouting department.
I'm looking forward to tonight's game and seeing Boqvist going up against Hughes. I was really disappointed when we missed out on Hughes by one spot. BTW I saw that he injured an ankle a few days ago but it was deemed not serious. Anyone know if he is playing tonight?

Hughes played the other night against the Blues. Assume he'll play tonight.

I, for one, do. Never liked the trade from the day it was made.
BTW that was a nice overtime play he made the other night against the Oilers. Could really use some of that here now.

Thanks for posting the article. Interesting read. If push comes to shove, and McD wants to replace Bowman, maybe he'll just kick him upstairs. The smart thing to do would give Stan a position with no authority and hire a new GM/VP of Hockey Ops with complete autonomy who wouldn't have to look over his shoulder to make the necessary moves to improve the team.
- boilermaker100

I would think if SB was replaced he'd still have some sort of job within where he, as you state, has no authority. (Not sure that happens as long as Scotty is around) But when the guy they hire has complete autonomy, that means the guy above SB has no authority. That would be a huge concession to make for him. I agree with your post if they do off SB, but I don't see the complete autonomy thing happening.

The problem with this is you have no idea how he would be performing on the Hawks right now. Considering the variety of talent we have on this roster right now and the results we are getting, it is likely he would be just as bad as everyone else. I can't prove it, but I believe it is highly likely.

At 6 mil per year? No thanks. This team would be in the same spot with him. Would also mean no Lehner. So actually, this team would probably be worse.

Michal Teply? Don't remember much hype about him when the Hawks drafted him last year.

I was thinking they can make Stan a "senior advisor" and send him to Florida to live with pop.

I am okay with that if Strome signs for significantly less than the $6M that Schmaltz got.

I would think that if you want a qualified candidate to run the ship, that person would want at least a GM/VP of Hockey Operations title and not have to answer to Stan about hockey related decisions. Stan could be rewarded for his loyalty to the organization and his hand in winning the Cups by accepting a do nothing position. If eventually another team wants to hire him as GM or VP of Hockey Ops, more power to him.

. damm right it's the core, it might take five years till last contract expires to renew this franchise Saying that Hossa will be the brightest star of the core in the HOF. if current core don't get with it, and adjust that ME attitude they will tarnish what they had. Other core around the league are playing with class

McD doesn't seem the a guy who gives up full autonomy.

If Stan goes and the keep the rest of the front office, will anything really change? Full disclosure - I'd like Stan to stick around because it looks to me that he is doing pretty well with this rebuild that's not called a rebuild for marketing reasons.

I think there's some truth to this. We bark on here that JC is putting in a system that doesn't match the talent. That's what Nagy is doing - should be designing the system around Mitchell's talents.

Both are off. Neither has the energy or confidence coming into the season that they had last year. Nagy needs to dumb it down and keep it simple. Get some screens for Tarik going and get the ball out of Biscuit’s hands sooner while also taking chances downfield. Wayyyy too many pass plays for 6-10 yards and rarely go deep so defenses have played up all year. Establish the damn run while you’re at it and use Burton more and less ARob. Spread it around!

Last year he threatened defenses with his speed on rollouts, etc. He was far more effective last year. Why?

Tell me about the cups Hossa won with OTT? ATL? PITT? Or the one in DET?

Wait...he didnt? He had to go to CHI (who had to outbid everyone) to join homegrown and developed group of Crawford, Toews, Keith, Kane, Seabrook and Hjarllmarsson to win.
