Always nice not to have to hear it from the locals. Would be nice if they could string a couple games together like last night's and go on a roll.
I liked how the lines looked and think Kubalik draws back in next game with Dach and Shaw/Caggiula...and whichever of those isn't on the third line plays with 64 and 22. - HawkintheD
On the bod, you don't always get it from the locals though. There are "fans" that you will ONLY hear from when the team loses. Beating a good team means nothing, even though everybody wants to be in the win column after every game. Faceoffs & the low noise level were big topics of discussion in a 5-2 VICTORY!
It would be nice to group some wins together & make up some ground in our division. Smith is "okay," but I'd much rather see Kubalik. |

I thought he actually looked ok last night and don't mind him as an extra forward. Would be great if they could find a taker for him though as I'd rather see one of the Piggies up if someone has to sit or there's an injury.
Not sure it was discussed, but my guess is that Kubalik got sat for spectating on the SHG against the Sharks. |

It's a bit more difficult to call for mass firings and push the "sky is falling narrative" when they beat a decent team...only a bit though, as some of the more skillful ones were able to forge ahead with it through 3 Cup wins. |

Fire McD, fire Stan, fire JC, fire M Crawford, fire the popcorn vendor, fire the janitors... this team needs to clean house (which could be a challenge without janitors but that's not my problem). |

With all due respect to your opinion. The front office and some fans are stuck hanging on to some belief that this teams core is capable of helping Chicago win another cup or make a playoff run.
The team lacks any excitement , consistency, or just any real chance to not only make the playoffs but be considered to challenge.
As a fan I'm grateful for the 3 cups this core has achieved , but I'm not willing to go to a hawks game and throw good money at a team that isn't willing to face reality that change is needed and parading out a declining core , a head coach who is not ready or has a history / resume to warrant him in that position with the monthly dog and pony show one last shift to reminess in the past glory days
It's become insulting . Fire Stan hire a new GM with some proven track record of accomplishment and let's move on to a full blown rebuild the correct way and not keep pushing the inevitable off. |

And that would require we rename the BOD from the Board Of Doom to Bipolar Of Doom

From Powers' post-game article:https://theathletic.com/1...hawks-win-over-vancouver/
Bonus: In my conversation with Kane, I asked him whether he had continued confidence in Colliton after a year of him being the coach. You may have your own opinions, but Kane said he did.
“He’s a great coach,” Kane said. “He’s a smart mind. I think you saw last year when he came in we struggled a little bit at the start to get used to some things and then we really took off and it was fun games. I think we have a better team this year. We have a better defense. We have a better goaltending. There should be no reason why we shouldn’t be able to replicate that or do even better.” - pdx2ord
No way Kane means it. He's just sucking up to The Man. |

What you, and I, don't know is why the team doesn't do a complete rebuild. Is Bowman to blame or is Upper management to blame? Maybe Bowman wanted to blow it up and begin a rebuild and management didn't allow it? One thing you touched on that drives how the team does business is ticket sales, ticket sales will dicate how Management proceed. |

I completely agree. The core players are not going to say anything negative and why would they . These guys can all sit back collect their big salaries and have nothing left to prove since they have 3 cups and many accolades.

Interesting to compare Cubs decision to rebuild to the Hawks deciding to do so, or not. Cubs fans were used to coming to the games when they were awful, so the Cubs didn't face a huge drop in revenue. A drop, for sure, but not huge. Hawks upper management may not feel they have that luxury. |

Yeah, highly competative athletes who have worked all their lives to play in the best league in the world collectively lost their motivation and got lazy at the same time. |

On a serious note, if I can find one, Kane in that quote went well past were he needed to in order to answer the question in a politically correct fashion. |

I get that he is slow, but I don’t understand the hate for Smith. He is a solid 4th liner. Makes smart plays, can forecheck, Doesn’t try to make plays he can’t. Two shots on net, and 50% at the dot in 12:00. What am I not seeing that everyone can’t stand this guy? - Chunk

Then don't. I know we differ here, but what I find insulting is you keep clamoring for a GM with a proven track record. Name one with a more proven one than Bowman.
Ken Holland? Just took a job in EDM and he wasn't getting the job done in Det. Yzerman? Just took the Det gig and the next Cup that's won under his watch will be his first. Rutherford? doubt he's going anywhere.
You seem to be under some impression I wouldn't trade any of the Core players. If there's a deal to be made that makes the team better, then by all means do it.
Whether you like it or not you are likely stuck with the inevitable. Seabs and Toews aren't going anywhere and the only guy they could trade that would likely contribute to the rebuild is Kane. If you could get a king's ransom for him great, but a contender who would want to pay for him likely can't due to Cap issues.
The reality is, this is almost always what happens in a hard cap league to teams who have had success and the team is essentially rebuilding whether they admit it publicly or not.

Yeah but .... We all know Bowman didn't build the team and only got the job cuz of his Dad!

The game within a game for me last night was Hughes /Boqvist. Hughes did not blow me away. I hated when we missed drafting him by one spot after being pushed back by the lottery.
But after last night I feel a bit better after comparing their performances and knowing that Boq is also a bit bigger while being almost a year younger. |

Well exactly! Uncle Dale would have beaten the tar out of the 29 other GM’s and made them take Seabs while acquiring two firsts with no salary retained. Let’s see what know nothing, non-hockey playing, bean counting, potato chip eating, Pappy Van Winkle guzzling, nap taking Stan does, ok Pallie! |

Hughes may not have had a great game but he’s had a decent rookie season. It’s still a bit too early to compare Hughes and Boqvist but both should have solid NHL careers. |

Luckily most of the people at my work are decent hockey fans and can look beyond one game. We have a few odd-balls, but they’re all Leafs fans. |
