In the meanwhile Hintz has 9 goals and 2 assists in 16 games this season. Definitely better than Nylander as I said before this season.

Luckily him and JT have some pretty great chemistry.

JT is signed for another 6 years and so is Marner.

Both of marners linemates are hurt and he’s still better than a point a game player. I don’t know what it takes to pacify our fans.

What does it have to do? It should be nothing.

But there are a few guys who think Marner can do no wrong.

I’ve seen people comment on it plenty of times, there have been multiple gasps that Marner has had this season that Nylander would of gotten touched for.

I’m simply just pointing that out.

Nylander (frank)ed up on that play, well deserved criticism and benching for it.

I’d like the same to happen to Marner next time and maybe that was a sign Babs had enough. It was just one shift, but it’ll be more next time for whoever.

- Santo_44

so... let me get this straight... I ask what Marner's play has to do with Nylander's.

and your response is to suggest that Marner should be benched.

You don’t judge the merits of those contracts after one month of play. Relax and give them some time.
- shack67

well.. in the case of Marner... all we have is "one month's of play"....

for someone else, who apparently we're not allowed to criticize for some reason - we have about 6 months worth... and it has picked up at pretty much exactly the same pace it was at during the dominating final five months of the season last year.

so there's that.

but I guess I just have to be reminded that we can't criticize Nylander at all... he's not making 11M+, and he's not playing with the best players and he didn't have time to get in shape... and and and...

oh wait... he is playing with Matthews, he's getting power play time, he doesn't and can't kill penalties and he had all summer to get in shape...

when should we expect the domination to begin?

Jesus. Does everyone just watch the games to reinforce the views they formed before the season even started?

Robertson with 2 goals after 2 periods. 19 in 16. Kyle Dubas struck gold, yet again.

The whole team is in a funk, not just Willy. But when the same people criticize the same player every day it borders on lunacy.
When the whole team gets it going I believe Nylander will too. But if he doesn’t the club will deal with that. I won’t be defending him but I also won’t be here every day like an old man yelling at the clouds.

I don’t really look at points too hard in such a small sample size.

I never once said Marner should be benched.

But, if he has some more bonehead plays in the neutral zone than yes...he deserves a shift off as did Nylander.

Nice pick by Dubas.

I apologize for wasting everyone’s time. This stat must be a bad one because Nylander is good at it. But it does show he takes the puck away and doesn’t turn it over often. Here are the Leaf leaders in Take Aways/Give Aways.

Nylander doesn’t go looking for the contact but he and Mathews have both been taking more hits this year to make plays. Nylander is good with his stick and is much stronger on the puck this year. So he isn’t “just flying by” as much as some think, and doesn’t “just dance around and turn the puck over.”

His style is frustrating but he isn’t that bad.

1 Mikheyev, Ilya RW 1.8
2 Kapanen, Kasperi RW1.6
2 Nylander, William RW 1.6
4 Tavares, John C1.2 0
5 Marner, Mitchell RW 1.1
5 Matthews, Auston C 1.1
7 Johnsson, Andreas LW 0.7
8 Moore, Trevor C 0.6
8 Muzzin, Jake D 0.4

Willy is a good player who has the potential to be really good. I hope the Leafs have learned not to give up too soon on young players.

He's getting points despite not playing overly good hockey.

So once he finally gets his poop together, imagine how good he'll be.

He's so hard-boiled!

I decided to start rereading from the beginning, since I'm off work hurt. Just got to Punk Hazard.

I still think the leafs are going to be great this year. They haven’t shown it yet but they’ll come around. They got through a terrible schedule in October in decent shape even though they have some key injuries.

Not sure I've ever seen fans complain as much as some Leafs fans about a 22 year old leading the team in scoring for the 3rd year in a row.

Playing "poorly" is on pace for 93 points. Like you said, just imagine when he gets his proper linemates back and hits a hot streak.
