Hornqvist out longer-term. Dumoulin just missed because his wife is having a baby.

I cant recall many games last season where they lost but I wasn't too negative about it because of their overall play and effort. I do however remember a lot of games they won last season that I really thought they shouldn't of.

This season has been refreshing to me so far.
The games have been mostly very entertaining no matter the results.Their play and process has been very good for the most part. Hopefully they keep it going.

Same this is what I was hoping to see from them. That and a dangerous second line.

I don't know why you thought that, you've followed this team long enough.

Yeah, but I thought maybe one game lol

Not going to lie though, I like the looks of this lineup without him. I know Grinder will be very sad.

Not that I want Hornqvist injured, but I wanted to see a stretch of games with him in the press box. I think he brings a lot to the team, especially the pp, but I think they need to see what life is like without him. His game prob won’t age well, he is prob going to play less and less games each year and I think 5mil could be better spent.

Hopefully this means more opportunity for Lafferty. I’m hoping he can be to 2020 what Bryan Rust was to 2016.

Mike Smith played a hell of a game and we shot high glove too often. Our dump ins right into his glove weren’t smart either. Shoot them off the end glass and get their D turned around

Lots of positives from the game to take moving forward. Per Rino’s comment: I like that second line of Galchenyuk-Geno-Rust

Man that sucks what happened to Sabourin. Best story of the season so far is him making the nhl at 27. Amazing to see the respect both teams had for him when they took him off the ice. Just goes to show you how much players respect the tough guy.

Both teams would have tapped their sticks like that no matter who got took off the ice like that. Thinking it’s because he was a “tough guy” is comical.

This team is going to hurt without Hornqvist, especially the already-struggling PP. Jake is great, but Hornqvist is obviously one of the best netfront guys in the league. Guys that can guarantee a 25-goal pace don't grow on trees.

I think it'd be worth giving Galchenyuk a good look on the PP1 (obviously not at netfront). He has very good PP numbers. I think it was actually one of the criticisms of him: "His 5v5 production isn't good, and he won't be on the PP in PIT, so he's a poor man's Kessel." I just have a feeling like he's got something that can be tapped on a team like the Penguins (vs. coming from ARI).

With some guys it just isn't a fit, but I think he can fit well. Perron was an almost-30 goal scorer that nobody gave GMJR credit for getting, but Doug Armstrong looks pretty smart for getting him (a Cup contributor last year and 7 goals in 14 games this year). Schultz gets no love and got over 50 points when Letang was on vacation in the 2nd Cup year. Stranger things have happened.

Also, and not that I'm complaining about his game, but did anyone else think that both goals offered the opportunity for a pokecheck? The first one went right through his kitchen, and on the second, the dman draped all over the puck carrier makes him a little more susceptible to a sneaky poke (albeit perhaps less so than on the first goal).

I can’t remember a time both teams came off the bench to an injured player. It definitely has an effect when you play the game like a hockey player. To bad Simon wouldn’t ever attempt to hit Backes.

Funny how in 1/16 of a season he has more respect that a guy like Tatar will have in his whole career. Tatar is that lame ass player you’re always talking about right?

I actually expect the Pens to be a better north/south team without Hornqvist in the lineup. They will miss some grit, sandpaper and someone to cause havoc in front of the goalie, but regardless of Hornqvist they need more players causing that havoc even when he is in the lineup.

(frank) that. Don’t touch the goalie. I bet that dude doesn’t take an extra stab next time they meet.

Murray definitely should’ve played better on the first goal. An easy poke check there.

Honestly the 4th line looked good. I don’t care what the “analytics” say, Pens should just put that snooze fest behind them.

Lol “play the game like a hockey player.” That dude is terrible lol it’s so funny that all these bums are the guys you’re a fan of. You go out of your way to try to turn these awful hockey players into something everyone just laughs at.

Perhaps, but he's 4th on the team in points (behind Sid, Jake, and Letang) and tied for 2nd in goals. I just don't see how that kind of production could play the role of "addition by subtraction". If someone with a "prettier" style produced that much, he'd make $6mil per.

I do like your point about going to the net more often. More often than not, it's stuff plays and recklessly jamming things that causes that havoc.

EDIT: Hopefully Lucic isn't there to get butthurt and assault someone.
