Can someone please tell me how I am supposed to feel about this team? Because I am confused. I have loved the Leafs since teh late 80’s and have always felt they gave there best but just were not good enough to win. This team seems to be good enough but not giving there best? Is that correct? What bizarro world have we entered?

I'm in the same boat. When are they going to gel? Are they going to? Are they really this disinterested? It's pitiful how little they actually try.

Babcock will be slaughtered for that decision
- walshyleafsfan

It was totally Babcock's fault that the Leafs were shorthanded on a chintzy penalty call in the overtime and Rielly gets mugged, slashed and high sticked in front of the freakin ref and no call. But it's ok the refs gave the Leafs a powerplay with 0.2 seconds left in OT ....... oh wait.

Basically i get the impression a number of players (not all), don't respect Babcock, Dubas or the organisation (a combination of all 3 depending on the player)

I honestly dont know. i could go either way right now. Almost want them to go in a spiral so Dubas gets canned. But only Babas will go, then we will get more of the same style of poop.

Why would Dubas get fired? He’s not Fenton. That loser sucked at everything. Trades, drafting, and signings.

More like a sense of entitlement and a lack of commitment. They have their dollars so who cares.

I would exclude AM from the above statement however.

Because reasons, Cooper and Brisebois are safe because reasons too, but Babs and Dubas are on ultra thin ice.

It comes down to this...

Always cheer for the sweater, but cheer only for players you enjoy watching or admire.

The problem with this edition of the team is there is not much to like. They clearly don't give a poop and haven't yet grown up and the players that have, just are not very good. It is difficult to respect a group of players who show no signs of even wanting to improve.

Because what exactly is it that Dubas is seeing, that the rest of the NHL doesn't. What environment is he working under when it came to handing out RFA deals? Why does he think a defence core of Rielly, Muzzin, Barrie, Ceci, Dermott and Holl can oust the Bruins from the playoffs?

He won't get canned soon. He'll have the chance to hire his own head coach first, but after that he's on the hook.

The team he's assembled is embarrassingly soft. Leafs have been fairly soft for a while now, but this is embarrassing for many of the fanbase (judging by online comments)

I could live with soft if there was strong effort to play the game with pace and skill.

It is beyond soft. They are lazy, don't care, over-entitled and mentally fragile.

Can the Leafs not make any trades during the season? Isn’t that how they got Muzzin last year?

The gritty and hard working players are ones he brought in. Hyman, Kapanen, Muzzin, and Holl. Even Marchment with the Marlies.

I’ll take Dubas over any other GM the Leafs had post lockout.

Matthews, Liljegren to DAL for Seguin, Heiskanen, 2nd.

Nylander to CLB for Anderson.

Petan, Marincin to SJ for Jones.

Yeah, when i say soft, i mean soft in all manner of terms, not just face punching. They wilt, there's very little push back, they generally don't have each other's back, they're mentally soft, they don't seem to want to be the best they can be (or realize how good they can be indvidually).

Matthews should be pretty much the hardest player to play against in the league. He has everything. Any attribute you could possible want skill wise and phyiscal wise, but it's as if he only thinks he has a shot. He's way more than just a good shot

He has the potential to dominate a game like very few other players.

I agree with cheer for the sweater, but I strongly disagree with "not much to like" There is plenty to cheer for. The goalie was pretty good tonight. The Leafs came out ok in the first. Four straight Flyer power plays including 3 in a row in the 2nd certainly helped even things up. Ask yourself this: If there was no cap, and you didn't know how much money Auston or Mitch made, would you like them better? They have all season to straighten things out. I expected female doging after a win from CKOUG but not from the others.

Jesus. I'd take Roger over any other GM the Leafs had post lockout.

They can make trades yes but it's going to be very hard to do so. They have to trade roster player for roster player. They can't trade away a dman because it's going to weaken an already weak unit.

Looking at player's cap numbers, it's basically Nylander or no one. I don't see who else can go to get back what we need. We might see a pointless Lindholm for Petan type thing?

Hyman and Muzzin fill the gritty/tough/ annoying to place against need, but i wouldn't say Kapanen or Holl fit that mold.

Leafs probably need 4 or 5 more players like Muzzin and Hyman in order to progress through a few rounds imo.

I love that they won, i truly do, but we squeaked out a win against a poor poor team.

Other than beating Boston once, i can't remember a game we've won against a team we'd likely meet when the playoffs begin.

I think this team has serious make up issues, but can be fairly easily resolved if the right moves are made imo

Holl is pretty physical. Kapanen uses his speed, and goes to the dirty areas. Maybe I just have a low bar. Timashov is pretty thicc and finishes his checks.

Nylander will be traded either mid season or in the offseason.. With the emergence of Mikheyev, and Korshkov playing well in the minors, we have a luxury of forwards - especially at wing. He can get back a really good player. Just gotta wait until after Christmas, then we’ll see which teams are in seller mode.

Their style of play is on Babcock, get rid of him while there's still time.
