IMO the quenneville trade was a loss simply because I have to watch Hayden every night.

At least they knew to keep Q in the minors.

Is Hall going for the taunt your own fans after getting pissy about the booing the other game.
- Pomegrant

I’m happy you caught that. I noticed it as well after his goal. I loved him. I love watching him play, but this team won’t win with someone like him in the locker room. He isn’t a leader. One thing a professional athlete should never do after a game is point the finger, especially at the fans that give you the ability to make millions playing the greatest game on the planet.

Scott Stevens, Elias, Marty, Rafalski, Neidermayer just to name a few leaders on this team. When they loss a game. They didn’t cry and blame other people. They looked deep inside and found ways to elevate their games. They kept their heads up and didn’t wine to the media.

I don’t agree with booing the team Ive watched for 31 years. They are part of my life. I love them when they lose and when they win. I can’t help it. I was at that game years ago against Carolina. That game 7 that was probably the worst game in devils history. We had the lead the entire game and in the final minute and half gave up two goals. I didn’t boo. I clapped at the end in appreciation for the season we had. FYI I was also at that 1-0 game 5 when clarkson scored the only goal and between Marty and Ward there was like 88 shots on net.

None the less I don’t agree with booing. But fans are entitled to boo. The same way I was entitled to chant MVP two seasons ago every time Taylor touched the puck.

It’s really sad the comments he made. For sure made Scott Stevens cringe. To be honest as great as he is, he should be traded. I don’t want our kids like Bratt, Nico & Hughes thinking that attitude is acceptable. Hughes sits next to this guy in the locker room. Do we really want Hughes being a finger pointer? Or hearing how terrible NJ fans are from a guy he probably looks up to like Hall?

The problem with this team isn’t talent. The problem with this team is the attitude, and it stems from Hall. I don’t think contract talks are going well. You can see from his frustration he wants out and if you listened to the press conference today they quoted Hall to Hynes, reporter said: “Taylor said that it seems that this team loses momentum after it scores a goal, do you believe that as well”. Hynes responded “ I don’t agree with that at all” “I have nothing to say” basically looked annoyed with Hall. Hynes never in the past publicly disagreed with Hall.

Well there is my rant. Again I know a lot of you are going to come at me. But it’s like any successful organization. If you have someone in your organization that is a cancer, that doesn’t have the right attitude. You need to drop him no matter how productive he is. Or that cancer spreads to the rest of the team. It’s true in sports and it’s true in business.

I’m starting to gravitate towards the trade this guy while you can camp. This team doesn’t look anywhere near ready to compete and it seems like Hall has lost his patience. Time to find out if someone’s willing to part with a top pair LHD.

"Obviously, the fans, they were booing," left wing Patrik Elias said. "They were disappointed. So were we. Trust me. But, we didn’t deserve that today. The effort was there. We were the better team. We understand it, but it wasn’t deserved tonight. I didn’t appreciate it.”

Said after a loss to the Senators in 2014. Wasn’t hard to find, I’d be surprised if others haven’t said similar. Thank goodness his cancerous attitude didn’t hurt the team too much during the glory years.

Elias stated he was disappointed in the reaction from the fans after what he thought was a good performance , but did not blame the fans for the loss or turning the momentum of the game. Your comparing apples to oranges. Sorry but that isn’t relevant. It’s a far stretch.

I can’t believe you are even trying to compare Elias who had a chance to get paid serious dollars during his FA year, but chose to stay with the devils and our fan base even though it is well known he was given much larger offers to go elsewhere including an offer from the rangers.

Elias is a pinnacle leader. Hall is a production leader. Can’t compare the two.

i missed a real nail-biter lol.

they drive ya crazy because they play on par or better than the competition but have the impending doom moments that get them 1 less point than they could've had. really a shame.

Add just about whatever we need to and send him to the ducks with his spitfire buddies for John Gibson . Ducks would never do it but thats a deal I would be hounding them about.

Hall said he was disappointed in the reaction of the fans during what he thought was a good performance.
Specifically: “We’re kind of battling our own fans at this point... It’s a tie game and we’re getting booed. That’s a tough environment to play in sometimes, especially when you are at home... If you’re playing at home, you want to feed off the energy of the crowd and not let that affect you, but sometimes it does.”

Where exactly does he blame the fans for the loss or turning the momentum of the game? Because it’s not in what he said.

You are the one comparing Hall to Stevens, Niedermayer, Elias and others. I was only trying to point out your inaccuracy around Elias, though apparently his complaining about fans is not objectionable.
They’re not the same situation at all. Elias was homegrown and not nearly as good. He was a tremendous guy to have on the ice (though my recollection is he was always reluctant to wear the C). He also got to have so much success in his early seasons that the late-career desperation wasn’t too bad. He could afford to stay with a team that he was a great fit on.

Hall does not have that sense of loyalty, does not have that early success, and seems pretty desperate for playoff success.
I really just don’t get all the hatred for Hall. I don’t think he seems like a particularly pleasant guy but he was a big part of bringing up Nico in his rookie season and he led by example in singlehandedly pulling the Devils into the playoffs two seasons ago. If he complained during the game, if he tweeted out something about fans, if he actually said fans were to blame for the loss or the shift in momentum, those would be things worth getting upset over. But what he actually said... I think if people weren’t already inclined to dislike him and didn’t already think he was soft or a cancer, those comments would have been nothing.

I think I’m done with this, because it really was not my goal to defend Taylor Hall over several days. If you think he’s a bad guy or has a poopty attitude, I am not challenging that. All I’m trying to say is that Hall’s comments, taken alone, were not offensive or egregious, and if he was already signed to a long term deal, I doubt fans would be talking about how poorly it reflects on him. But that’s just my opinion. Like all of you, I am pretty discouraged by watching this team game after game and maybe I’m just trying to find any possible reason not to feel worse about it.
