In all seriousness, if the team didn't know he had an injury and surgery to correct the issue, do they still get the Cap relief? Can a team reverse a suspension and instead put him on LTIR?

I think the league might have issue with it, but not sure.

You are either 15y old or never understood how the real world of business works judging on that comment

Come on man, with the way you think you know everything about everyone you have no business saying this. In fact, you are the one who needs to up their maturity.

Petan has got more skill but it's not enough to replace the skilled players on the Leafs and he can't kill penalties like Shore can. Which is probably what the Leafs need more.

Both can go away, though.

I'd like to see Korskov get some time with the Leafs.

- GreatGigInTheSky

Second that notion on Korshkov. And protect Timashov too. Spezza can't skate in this league now. Bye Bye.

Apparently the reason the Leafs won't get Doughty is because it'll cost Marner+.
- GreatGigInTheSky

Nylander, Johnsson, Ceci and Hutchinson

for

Doughty (1 million retained) and Petersen (150K retained)

Say what you want about Dubas.

He’s done a (frank)ing amazing job making the Marlies an incredible development spot.

Which is incredibly important when you are up against the cap.

For sure. I won't complain about anything Dubas has done. Give the dude a bit more time. Still on the learning curve, but he's got the scouting department working over time. Adding good pieces to our system. Sure looks like Robertson is a gem too.

I think people need to pump the brakes a bit, when it comes to firing Dubas. The guy has been on the job for less than 2 years. I think he deserves more time to succeed.

IMO nobody needs to be fired

leafs just need to get through this rough patch, that's it, that's all.

keep working on the weaker parts of our game and the puck will continue to go in...

Losing in the 1st round, four years in a row, somebody has to go. You can't spin your tires four years in a row like that and not make changes. Both the coach and some of the players would have to go.

Of all the Cup winning coaches since the lockout, only two of them won the Cup in year four of their run. Babcock is in year 5. Everybody else won it in the first 3 years and a good number of them did it in the 1st season in charge. Babcock has run out of time if he doesn't get some kind of playoff success.

Yea, I think we're about due to go on a roll. Time to make a little hay as the farmers say. And by the way Lucas, we enjoy your blogs. Keep it up.

Unless a GM manages to stick around for 5+ years, you rarely get to see the team the GM was trying to build until he's gone.

Barring something catastrophic (Paul Fenton, Peter Chiarelli), no General Manager should be fired before they get at least three years on the job.

No salary cap for AHL and big big financial advantages over other teams does a lot.
It's really that big of an accomplishment (and let's see whether these marlies players will indeed come through consistently)

It wasn't that big of a miracle with Andersen in net and a bunch of young top draft picks who scored a bunch of goals.

The facts don't lie; coaches have a shelf life. Babcock is running out of time.

He's a good coach but he's not getting it done unless he proves otherwise with some playoff success. But at this rate, being a wild card team might be a success.
