Good - no, excellent - posts this early morning, Foxy.

Hard to believe that Crawford doesn’t see these things and work with his boss to move in that direction (unless there is an agenda there) or that Stan (altho he’s no Scotty) doesn’t also see it.

I agree at this point - it’s more coaching than players at this point - this roster is not a Cup-contender, but should be in the playoff hunt.

Trouble is - if they move Colliton out - he can’t realistically go back to Rockford - where he would probably succeed.

Sorry, meant to reply to your post earlier today. Thanks for the compliments!

IMO, the current roster is capable if properly coached and playing within systems that are structured yet not restrictive to allow for their individual strengths to shine and instincts to help lead decision making.

I really like the moves Bowman made this past off season. Save for Smith who just hasn't made that much of a difference yet (at least he hasn't been a liability either), all the new guys have been impact players to some degree or showed promise as freshmen:

Carpenter, Dach, Kubalik, Nylander
de Haan, Maatta
Lehner

Shaw has committed too many boneheaded infractions but I think on the balance he has been and will be a net positive forward for the Hawks in his return.

Ya, they would qualify. Although I doubt Seabs would go to Winnipeg or Ottawa.

Well he said it himself, “I'm sure someone wants me.” So I hold out a little hope.

I saw that too. I wonder if Seabs makes the rookie clean his house and babysit his kids?

So I'm just a bit curious.

Why have the Hawks regressed.

while they weren't great at all last year, they were better than they are now.

What changed?

Should have more time with the Coach and the system.

Looking at the moves in the offseason, you look at it and say they should have more talent, certainly not less.

Something else is wrong.

All pro teams in Chicago are regressing, except the Sox. Hawks, Bears, Bulls, Cubs

What the hell is going on!?

Something else is going on behind the scenes with the Hawks. They shouldn't be worse. Lerner alone should be making them better. Wish all the reporters did real reporting. Sure like to know what the problem is.

I've never seen them get so outplayed in a game as the last one in Nashville, even when they were terrible.

Caufield has 8 goals in 7gp for Wisc Badgers. I still feel that Dach was a better pick because he checks off more boxes (needs).

Why does it have to be a defenseman “quarterbacking” the PP?

How about a forward who can get a shot thru, with a true d-man with him on the blue line?

It needs someone who can do a Johnny Cash (Walk the Line) and get shots thru to at least the scrum in front of the net.

Nylander? Caggiula?

- StLBravesFan

It doesn't, but it needs to be a guy who has a clue defensively because he's the last one back most of the time.

Have been asking the same questions. What changed since last year that has caused this steep regression?

Too much thinking, rather than playing on instinct, trying to stick to the new system? Locker room issues? Steeper than normal age-related decline? Refusing to play for this coaching team?

Friend just raised this possibility too - FO not thrilled with King's development chops and wants their top guys under JC tutelage instead.
- pdx2ord

So demote JC back to Rockford and let Crawford take the wheel.
