Anyone know how he is retrieving pucks and avoid hits? I know he is an elite skater but does he have the Kane like elusiveness of avoiding big hits?

I feel like this kid is going to get run over the first time someone just aimlessly throws the puck around the boards in the d-zone b/c to him since this team has no strategy or structure in its own end.

This stinks of desperation. At least when TT came up he had been playing with men in Europe.

Boqvist has 6 games under his belt playing against full grown men.

Speaking of Winnipeg, read that Buff had ankle surgery recently, says it is hockey related and wants to be paid now and taken off the suspended, not paid list.

Sounds like he should take up teaching in Chicago after he retires.

Haha. Sorry! That would be my first offer to Stanley. Seems pretty fair.

I'm at the F it point. Might as well call up Boqvist. We need offense and if you're going to keep Dach here you might as well give him a shot to grow and develop this year as well. Let him play with Keith so they can give him the RHD he wants and see if he's willing to help the kid grow.
- Savetheembers33

They need DEFENSE first. They got owned against the Preds. 51 SOG against - 33 actual scoring chances.

What good is another undersized puck mover if he is just another guy who never gets the puck?

Why bring and expose their young potential NHL talent to a room that in all likelihood is dysfunctional at best?

This team is screwed.

A NOT NHL coach running a NOT NHL scheme with players who can’t/won’t buy in, where the GM is more accountant than hockey guy, and his boss (an unnecessary tier of management) who knows nothing about hockey with no cap space and no market for their declining players.

What potential Team Pres/GM/NHL coach/marquis player or prospect would want to walk into this crapstorm?

Babcock?? Dude is failing with a group of young and talented players.

Lottery team.

Elias Pettersson is a treat to watch. I know you are on the East Coast Bogie, but I try to watch the Nucks' games simply because Pettersson has Patrick Kane level skill, vision, and ability to control the game with the puck on his stick. He has an elite level sniper with him in Boeser, a 200ft Center in Horvat, and a Modern Day Offensive D-man in Quinn Hughes. Their goalies have both been excellent too. 18 points in 12 games for the 20yr old Pettersson.
- EnzoD

yeah those west games are killer for me...but from what i have seen of petterson with hawk games and a few games with eastern team and highlight..i certainly see what you see..

nucks have given the hawks alot of trouble the last few years...they are improved..

Lehner has been great, except for I think one game. I'm sorry Corey but he has to be the starter moving forward.

It doesn't make any sense that they can not score on the PP. The offensive talent on this team should be able to at least be league average on the PP. This has been a problem for years. They need to quit trying to set up fancy plays. Get someone in front of the goalie and put pucks on net. Shaw has no problem providing traffic. Saad should be able to do that too. They seem to be trying to go back to Kane setting up a one timer with Debrincat taking Panarin's old spot, which is fine if it isn't the only thing you have.

Defensive zone exits seem to be another constant problem from the last few years. They keep trying to make long stretch passes that aren't available or some other fancy pass through traffic. Just make the simple play and keep moving forward.

Gilbert isn't ready for the NHL, please don't keep him up for long.

I like the effort Dach shows fighting for pucks on the boards. Maybe give him some PP time. It's not like they can get much worse.

Hell, you could put me on the power play and it wouldn’t get much worse.

Watched the Kings/Nucks game last night. Although the score doesn't indicate it, Vancouver put just as much a beatdown on the Kings as the Preds did the Hawks, on the road no less. Outshot the Kings 49-24, and the play wasn't even that close.

Lots of good points. Sort of on the same subject, I PM'ed Tyler a mailbag question asking what he thinks the organization should do if they continue to suck and are out of playoff contention by January.

Still don't get this recall of Boqvist. One, too soon, Two, he's not the best D-man in Rockford and it's not even close.

Holm and Carlsson play better defense. Heck, Tuulola does as well.

If management is looking to start a youth movement with the top prospects, then why not Beaudin? He's significantly better than Boqvist in all zones so far in the AHL and they both started their pro careers at the same time.

To answer your question, Boqvist is good at retrieving pucks and making a good first pass out of the zone but has been playing rather tentatively otherwise. He doesn't make boneheaded plays like Krys but he's also not yet a difference maker either.

As for avoiding hits, he's doing a decent job and has that elusiveness you alluded to that Kane is known for. But not sure if it's wise to subject Boqvist so soon to NHL level physicality that comes at you much quicker.

Frickin love Seabs. Sucks his contract has become such an issue and his on ice play has dropped.

Can we just have him be an assistant coach and move his cap hit off the books?

Always had a hunch he and Sharp were the real leaders in the room.

and Hossa. Kind of evident especially since Hossa had to quit playing. Toews may be the captain for media and marketing purposes, but I am starting t believe he is not the leader he is portrayed to be.
