!) I agree with lightfoot. don't pay the teachers there full salary because they take 2 weeks off. in any other field you take off 2weeks like this you would not get paid. They have to understand that if they strike they are going to lose some money. I would never pay it. it would mean they just strike ever year they don't get everything they want.

2) Seabs was paid like a #1 D man since 2010. its not like the hawks paid him nothing before this deal. He is 1 of the highest paid D men in history of the NHL. I'm sorry they hurt his feelings. Grow a pair. He told him he was going to be scratched and seabs walked away from the conversation. He has been bad.

Makeup days will likely drive ot in other areas. That said, aren't a minimum number of school days required and where does that stand?

Same stuff happens in most other jobs too. You spend weeks busting your ass and your boss doesn't like a presentation or tells you to scrap an entire project, etc.

Happens to me as a lawyer. Spend hours and hours writing a brief and the judge gives you a crap half-assessed ruling that makes no sense. Your client decides he/she isn't going to pay the bill now and you have to give them a 50-60% discount.

Life isn't easy. I know for a fact a lot of teachers just reuse lessons once they have established themselves life. Life isn't that rough for a teacher. On the flip side teachers don't get 3 months off during the summer with nothing to do at all. Most are planning for the next school year and participating in required training, etc.

With regards to CPS teachers, to my knowledge they are not held accountable for students failing or poor test scores etc. I haven't heard of a CPS teacher being fired b/c of students performing badly. Could be wrong though.

Teachers should get paid more and more resources should be dumped into the classroom. Cut out all the bull poop administrators and union reps etc. that are a huge drain on the limited resources... but it is Chicago so that will never happen.

I'm game...what do you think the Hawks need to do going into the next game to turn things around?

Teachers get pretty crappy salaries considering the education requirements, responsibility and value of their profession. I can understand their frustration.

Hire a teacher and move out of state to avoid paying IL income taxes.

WTAF are they doing?

Are they going to bench Seabs again? Benching Gus?

Throwing in towel on season and using it as development/PR showcase year for young guys?

Buddy your guess is as good as mine.

I am the sap that gets excited to watch young kids play and hope to see a glimpse of what the future holds. IMO, its better then seeing a veteran 6th/7th guy screw up. Let the kid get a taste and see if he can adjust, etc.

A lot of Seabrook bashing going on here. Seabrook is not a #2 D anymore, he’s a #4 or #5 Dman now on a good team, the issue is that we don’t have #1 and #2 defensemen, we have many 3, 4, and 5’s. If we had a good top three Seabrook would be fine and he would be fine on a cup contender. Is his salary matching his play? Probably not, but he is still a good defenseman in my book, and if his salary was $4M a year, would you still be complaining?
- Angotti

He's like a 6/7. 4 million too much. He's very bad. Both to watch and those observations are supported by just about every metric available.

What you're missing is that the future of this country's position in the world is tied up with teachers.

In an increasingly competitive world - China, India, Brazil, others - the ability of the United States to continue to be the world leader economically, scientifically, culturally will depend on making sure the young people of today and tomorrow are universally better educated than past generations.

If we refuse to support our educational efforts with sufficient resources and a more concerted emphasis than we are currently providing, we will wind up - sooner rather than later - as a second power rather than the world leader we we expect to be.

- StLBravesFan

This is wrong. The US spends the second most in the entire world per student. The problem is with the education system itself. They are churning out test takers and not lifetime learners. Kids need less, but better education - not more and more "accountability".

Yeah, not a wise move to call up Boqvist. He’s not ready. IMO, this is a PR decision not a hockey decision.

If it’s time to see what there’s down on the farm, call up Holm or Carlsson instead. They’ve earned it more than Boqvist.

Seabrook a healthy scratch 2 games in a row. Seabrook vents his frustration to the media telling them he has something to offer SOMEONE.....Boqvist called up.

Is this just a coincidence or is there a move being worked on to move Seabrook?

Or there is a potential to read Seabrook's comment as a dig that JC wasn't going to be coach for much longer. The "somebody" may still be with the Hawks.

If they move Seabrook, Dach will have to find a new person to live with for the season.
