SJ screwed themselves by giving everyone NMC and M-NTC where they can only be moved to 3 teams.

Hertl is about the only player they can move and the thing they would want from the Jets is Heinola or maybe a Roslovic, Samberg combo, and the Jets would only have him under contract for 2 years.

- BWJumper

There is just no way I would let go of Roslovic. He is young, one of the fittest guys in the entire league , and one of the future stars of this team. He actually reminds me of a lesser version of a young Jeremy Roenick. Of course Roenick was the better player but the style is similar. He obviously needs some obvious seasoning on his defensive play which is why Maurice still has Little as the current second-line center. He also needs to improve his scoring touch. The rest is there. A very talented young kid who is maybe a year at most from hitting the next level.

Also not giving up a D to get a forward. We need our defensive talent and right now if the Jets were to make any trade it should be a forward for a D.....IMHO

Heinola-Niku pairing absolutely shredding fools in the A. If only there weren’t so many quality NHL defencemen blocking their progress on the Jets. Oh well.

BW there is no way that San Jose would get what you are asking. I am thinking Vesalianen plus a 2nd rounder max.

According to Maurice guys like Bitteto, Stuart, Enstrom are and always will be better than the Niku's and Heinola's of the world.

Niku is just there for conditioning after his accident and injuries. He would be a starter on the Jets if this was not the case, and will be brought up shortly.

Players ice time and usage! Maurice's behaviour says more than any article I could quote.

If Poolman is still out, perhaps we can see Sammy as soon as tomorrow night.

come on - that is at best hyperbole and at worst a total lack of respect for team building process. A look at Maurice's actions: Stuart and Enstrom are no longer Jets. Stuart was a frequent 7th d and Enstrom was scratched for the big game. Niku is getting his mojo back in the AHL and Bitteto will likely be in the press box when he and Beaulieu return. Heinola shows promise but is not going to tip the balance of success or failure for this team at this time in his career. The A or Europe is best for him and the Jets organization.

Its hard to believe that the Byfuglien situation is anything but acrimonious. It involves a long term loyal leader on the team, pain, hard work, lots of money, competitive people, legal contracts and potentially medical error. I think he will play again somewhere but likely not in Winnipeg. Sad that it looks like its coming to this.

If so there should eventually be some actual cap space available, hopefully before the deadline. Can we circle back to take another run at Hamonic who is said to be in muddy contract negotiations with Calgary?

To date Buff has not filed a grievance report. He has lots of time to do this but the reports out there seem to slant this towards some type of nefarious fight amongst the two camps where in actual fact there has so far been nothing to support that view. Until an actual grievance is filed one can only assume its just Buff doing things his own unique way .

Buff will come back. This isn't his first holdout to pursue fishing and moose camp. Heck I just got dusted by Buff and a buddy in a fishing Tourney in Kenora. Haha. The guy does what he wants, and I respect it. He is not willing to uproot his family, and if he decides he want to play again, it will be with the Jets. Hopefully he leaves at least a dozen games to get some conditioning back. Hamonic is slow and getting slower. I am not a fan of his. Pietrangelo though.........

On another note: Trouba+Chiarot+Meyers= 12 points Pionk = 9 points

Just what the Jets need, a soon to be 35 year old defenseman who do to injury will have played 16 games since December 29 2018

Why would the Jets want Byfuglien back? Byfuglien coming back would totally upset the chemistry that is being formed on the blue line. The guy is a 35 year old injury prone defenseman. Time to move on from the "big dog".

Just some more comments on this. If Buff is entering fishing tournaments, watching Jets games in bars, etc then what type of grievance report is he going to file. I mean if you dont report to camp, don't seek advice from Jet's doctors, don't attend any form of regular rehab under the Jet's medical team's supervision , be part of the team, watch game film while injured, etc....then how can he go and file a grievance report and ask for his salary. It is obviously his choice and his choice only that he is no part of the Jets organization right now.

The main question is why would the Jets want to bring him back into the locker room? Especially after he has made everyone in the organization look like a fool.

They would be if they could still play. Mentioning Bealieu is comical as well. The guy could not crack Buffalo's top 6 of a horrendous d last year and here in Winnipeg we are like, he's the answer! But if he does play good, it plays into my narrative of defense being an overrated position in hockey.

Don't have any sources, but my gut feeling is there is a war going on between the Jets and Buff. Why wouldn't there be when he doesn't show up for exit meetings last year, doesn't report for physical to start the year, and is holding the Jets ransom cap wise?

I, for one, hope that Buff has played his last game for the Jets after this B.S., and the Jets can void his contract. What good is he going to be when he comes back anyways now, older and seemingly brittle.

Not thinking that Beaulieu is the saviour, but he may be an upgrade on what we have now.

Still not sure why you continue to say that defense is not important. There must be some reason that GM's, maybe smarter than you or me, spend millions of $$$ to fetch top-notch d-men. Put one real good d-man on the Jets blue-line (not named Byfuglien) and the Jets would be a much better team, without question.

And yes, they could also use a #2 C - still hoping that Roslovic can develop into that but so far management says "no." But Jack has been a different player lately, give him another shot (or a shot) at the #2C position.

To Pete's point about 'Who are these Jets' - the team identity question - a few thoughts:

*until around 2015 we were a big heavy lunch pail crew that depended on outworking the opposition every night to have a chance
*2015-2017 it was about being big, heavy and fast
*2017-2019 we were big, fast, skilled scorers
*2019 - not as big, still fast, still can score, mostly mobile d, not heavy at all anymore, not a 'lunch pail' team.

It is a different look than we are used to and maybe the shift away from heavy/fast was part of the let down of 2018/19. Less physical play, less grit = less intense games. Probably this is a product of having better draft picks in the lineup - they have more skill, speed and puck sense and don't need the same grit as years past, especially up the lineup.

Be it resolved that the 2019/20 Winnipeg Jets are at their best when they are:
a puck moving, puck possession team that gets it done with speed, with good in tight puck movement and with high end finishing.

You might be right about the 'war' but I hope not. As for Buff being brittle that is overstating the recent injury history. He can still be counted on for about 65+ games in a normal year. a concussion from an errant stick, a high ankle sprain, both in the same year. In a normal Buff year he misses a handful of games for relatively minor wear/tear issues. He doesn't need a buyer be ware tag.

He seems to get hurt away more easily (brittle) as I see it. Last year, he was hardly touched a couple of times - and IR here we come. The older you get, the longer it takes to recover. Older and certainly not lighter does not make for a good future. Not going to get better!

Now, the over and under at 65 games, I take the under every time. Yes, buyer beware. If there was only a buyer.

I'm pretty sure that is why he isn't filing a grievance report. Or did that just happen? Either way, the guy topped me by 5lbs in the local bass derby. Hard to not recognize they guy. This was a week or two prior to the surgery. Sure doesn't seem concerned about hockey at the moment but you guys all seem a little to quick to forget that the guy is a 0.75ppg D man who makes this NHL look like beer league hockey, and manhandles anyone on the ice. If he is healthy, and gets 12+ games of conditioning, you will need him in the playoffs.
